Rate this book

I'm movin' on, at last I can see

Life has been patiently waiting for me

And I know there's no guarantees

But I'm not alone

There comes a time in everyone's life

When all you can see are the years passing by

And I have made up my mind

That those days are gone

I'm Movin' On is a song and a book that helps deal with the confusedfeelings, the insecurities, and the pain of not living up to your own standards, goals, and dreams. It is a book of acceptance, surrender, forgiveness... andmovin' on.

"Everybody has problems and everybody, at some point in their life, hitsrock bottom," say Dave Williams and Phillip White. Sometimes it feels like the end of the world, but as we now know,it's not. Sometimes you think you will never make it through, but we'vediscovered, you will. With the precious blessing of time, scars heal, heartsmend, you will forgive yourself... and move on!"

The lovely song drew me to read this short book. Although I enjoy the song immensely, the book was unexpectedly trite and, in my opinion, gives very little depth while jumping strangely back and forth between giving life advice and telling one or the other author's story while several times assuming we, as the readers, have similar life stories.
This story of how the song came to be cum self help book feels like the two authors were told by their agent and management team to put this together and the two stayed up all night one night riffing this book together with statements and sentences most of us have heard a thousand times.
This is not a criticism of the song or of the authors' lived stories. It is a critique of the way the book reads and how I, as the reader, felt after reading it.
