This is a very practical book - a sort of a "how-to-kit" for those wishing to follow an animal free diet for whatever reason. It is fun, colourful, hand-drawn and hand-written in a really approachable and friendly style, with plenty of recipes easy and quick enough for a beginner, a family or even a young person on their own. There are many vegetarian versions of traditional favourites - pasties, shepherdess pie, chilli non carne, chocolate cake and pancakes.
Liz works promoting nutrition and healthy animal-free diet. She went to Surrey University where she gained a BSC in Hotel, Catering and Tourism Management. By the end of the fourth year, in 1983, she was a committed vegetarian and specialising in nutrition and food technology.
She has been vegan and vegetarian (at different times) for 26 years. During that time, and partly as a result of having a son, she has added an interest in all aspects of healthy living to her passion for nutrition and animal welfare - natural first aid remedies: lavender and tea-tree ... avoiding poisonous chemicals as we clean our environments ... the incredible power of yoga to keep mind and body well. She spent 15 years as a school speaker and cookery demonstrator on behalf of many of the leading animal welfare groups in the UK and is currently focussing on the very real need to promote a healthy diet - especially in schools. She lives in Brighton with her son (now a robustly fit, tall and active 15 year-old).
