Paige is in a race for her life. When growing up, Dad always advised "face up to your problems." But he didn't say what to do if those problems tried to kill you. Or what to do if that problem was a fiancé. Paige Carmichael opted to run. Far and fast. In spite of Dad's teachings, in this case, running seemed well advised, but it probably wasn't the best idea to take the problem's prized gold coin and three quarters of a million dollars. At the time, Paige feels it's payment enough for her fiancé's betrayal. And really isn't surprised when he comes after it. It's said to lose yourself, change everything about yourself. So she favorite foods, hair color, even her name. She changed her name so many times she has trouble remembering what it once was. Now she's in a race for her life. Of the many people she meets along the way, who can be trusted to help and who're trying to exact revenge?
When I lived in New England I stayed indoors and wrote murder mysteries. Now, in Florida, where I can be outdoors twelve months of the year, I write self-help and metaphysical fiction.

What do you do when you see your fiance, Stefano, shot and kill a man in your home ? You take the money and run. What do you do when you hitch a ride from a gorgeous truck driver who wants to help you ? You take the money and run. Paige Carmichael witnesses her soon to be husband shot and kill a man like it was nothing to him. She knew he was into shady business but never murder. She had to draw the line somewhere. So she takes a bunch of money, a prized gold coin and some of her belongings and high tails it out of there. She changes her hair color and style, wears clothes that are the opposite from what she would wear, she finds new hobbies, uses a different name at every stop. She meets some nice people along the way and some try to help her but she cant get close to any one in fear that Stefano will find them and hurt them. All Paige wants to do is find a nice town to settle down in and move on with her life. But every time she gets settled and starts to let her guard down, Stefano's men show up. How does he do it ? This book was different from the other Cindy Davis books that I have read in the sense that you are not trying to find a killer, instead the main character is running from a killer. The story grabs your attention instantly and gets your adrenaline pumping throughout the entire book. And the last few chapters were mind-numbingly captivating. This was, by far, my favorite book of her's so far.
