If you want to learn how to make great HTML 5 iPhone (or any phone) application then I suggest you give this one a shot. This book is great because it gets you programing in the first chapter, this is often not the case with most IT books that make you read several chapters of history before you can even start programing. This book is also great because it provides support files for each chapter to work with. This addition of this feature to the book is one of the things that make PACKT Publishing different from many of the HTML 5 books out there. It is always difficult when following along with programing books because you are often times given a large amount of code that you have to rewrite to see it work. If anyone has ever tried this before it can be a lot more challenging than it looks. The support files from PACKT Publishing solve that problem with giving the files for each chapter. These files will allow you to focus on the goals of each chapter and not waste time trying to debug code.
The chapters are broken down into covering 10 different sections covering the most important features that a programmer would need to be successful in making an app. I feel the way the chapters are broken down are perfect, exactly the topics i need to be successful. Two chapters that this book covers that are very helpful are touch and gestures and offline application storage. As someone who has started developing HTML 5 mobile app these are two topics I am constantly searching for answers. When developing mobile HTML 5 web application the key to success is to develop an app that the end user cannot tell the difference between a native app and one developed with HTML5, and the chapters in this book will help you solve that issue. This book gives you the necessary skills to become successful in iOS development and start developing great mobile app.
