A mafia romance. May Andropov, a nurse working in one of Chicago hospitals, falls in love with her patient, Gilberto Ferragni, who happens to be a member of a well known mafia family. Can she accept who he is? Are her feelings for him strong enough to stand by his side even when she disagrees with what he does for a living?
It seemed to me author was dragging story out. I think my most favorite detail was why the mother of May needed to buy clothes for her son, shockingly he grew out of his old ones.
Then, on the other end of the spectrum were the time gaps. Months would pass and nada happened.
Makes for a difficult follow through.
Finally, some of the dialogue was inane. Both to other characters and internally.
Having finished this book, thanks KU, it appears I need to read another to finish the saga.
Recognized Ola's name from a JA writing site and liked her P&P stories (especially her werewolf one). This was a good book, a good story, and had good characters. It was also grounded in sensible reality with good perceptions.
