My Favorite Patient: The Memoirs of a Psychoanalyst

Rate this book
The author shows on his personal and his professional life story the development of a person and of an analyst. His idea all through life was always to look at himself as if he was his own favorite patient - and at his patients as if they were himself, or at least parts of himself. This development is traced through childhood, medical school, marriage, emigration, war experience, and finally through the life of an analyst in Beverly Hills, Southern California, USA. The story is told with humor, illustrated by approximately 50 drawings by the author himself. He shows his increasing insight, his understanding for himself and others; his deepening maturation as a person and simultaneously as a therapist.
