Carol Marinelli was born in England to Scottish parents, then emigrated to Australia, where there are loads of Scottish and English people who did exactly the same, so she’s very at home there.

She lives in the outer suburbs of Melbourne—pretty much in her car, driving her three children to their various commitments.

Carol writes for the Harlequin Presents and Medical lines and she also writes contemporary women's fiction (with a dark twist).
When she's not writing she's reading, when she's not reading she's writing.

This was quite the surprise. I really wasn't expecting much at all from this book, it was a short read that had been sitting on my kindle for years. To my surprise I actually ended up really enjoying this one. I liked the story line, the characters and thought the sexual tension running throughout was terrific. I loved the romance and the medical setting. Wasn't a fan of the ending,

(SPOILER: Romance writers! Not all romances have to end in a proposal and wedding bells!)

But apart from that it was good stuff.

I really liked how all the relationships interacted and grew as the story unfolded. Lots of strong women characters. Jasmine has moved back home and got a job working in the same E.R, as her sister is a Dr. at. Penny does not want her sister working in the same department. So Jasmine promises she won't let anyone know they are sisters. Her mom looks down on her being just a nurse and only agrees to babysit for the first few weeks.

Most of the book takes place in E.R. or her house in Peninsula AU. The medical part of the story was really interesting too. Loved the drama, at the hospital. The scenes worked for me.

The week part of the book was how Jed and Jasmine have both good reasons not to get involved with anyone but they just fall in bed together and keep their relationship secret. Mainly sex. Did not have much to relationship outside of hospital.

I guessed some of the elements pretty early about where the story was going, but it was enjoyable how it got there.

I admit to skipping over the sex scenes.

I like Jasmine's one year old he is cute. I think getting the part of single mother having to work and worry about daycare especially nights and evenings was done very well also.

I was given this ebook to read for purpose of giving a honest review by Netgalley and Harlequin.

Her mother and sister, especially her sister, were fucking appalling. Inexcusably so. But her and the dude were okay I guess.

I've never picked up one of the Harlequin Medical books before, but I've read and liked books by Ms. Marinelli in the past (particularly A Legacy of Secrets in the Harlequin Presents line, one of the recent Coretti Dynasty set) so jumped at the chance to review this.

First, let me say I'm not in the medical profession, but I feel like Ms. Marinelli did a great job with the medical setting as a backdrop. The emergency room was very much another character in the book, with plenty of incoming and outgoing drama from it (in a good way). I liked the interplay of nurses and doctors and how professional they could be even when dealing with what could be a heart-breaking moment (losing an infant patient, among other nightmares).

I was expecting a nice medical romance and I was pleasantly surprised at the way the heroine's relationships with her prickly mother and sister evolved and grew throughout the story. It made for a really compelling read in addition to the romance. Plus, the family relationships directly affected the romance arc so it all intertwined very well.

The title was a little corny, and sometimes the writing style rambled a bit and seemed too much like train-of-thought, but on a whole, the story was very entertaining. The ending was good and reminded me a bit of one of Betty Neels' classic endings.

Overall, a great read.

Thanks to Harlequin and Netgalley for the e-ARC of this book.

This is my first Harlequin Medical book. The setting and premise appealed to me, and I wasn't wrong to check it out.
Carol Marinelliu seems to know her stuff. I felt like I was there. The story premise was interesting. The pacing was slow at first, the author seemed to spend a lot of time having the main characters skirt around each other, I just didn't sense a spark early on. Their romance was slow and steady, but still satisfying. The happily ever after was good, the ending made sense.
The one thing I had trouble with were the Australian terms for things like daycare. It didn't take away from the story, but it did stop me at times.
I would read more from the genre, would try another from this author.

Lovely story based in an Australian hospital Emergency Department that blends work with romance. The main characters are strong (but damaged) and the supporting characters range from the incredibly prickly to the incredibly cute. A fun read.

The medicine was on target, but the romance had no underpinning. It was as if the author said "These two people are in love" and never showed why.

This is a very light M & B book. It is a medical one set in the emergency ward. It is quite interesting.
