A veritable tome of information on the life of Ahmed Shah Durrani. The author (who is, curiously a Sikh) delves deep into all military aspects of the life of Ahmed Shah drawing on numerous primary sources.
I enjoyed the summaries of the different portions of his rule and personality; which are understandably much more brief than the accounts of his military campaigns (these are found just before the appendices at the end).
If you're a student studying the origins of modern Afghanistan, this is the book for you.
