Dave Farrar travels through the global sporting calendar, meeting sporting experts in each field and trying to gain a competitive edge over the bookmakers.
This is a sports commentator's diary of his bets on sports. He starts off losing his girlfriend, and decides that he to get her back, he needed to win, and to win he needed to be more systematic in how he selects his bets. Generally this involved going to the actual place where the event is taking place, speaking to people about their opinions on the match, researching the weather, the psychology of the players, and so on. There isn't too much that is helpful for serious bettors - the author is a little bit smarter than the average mug punter. It is entertaining and very easy to read.
The best part about this book is getting details about the playoffs or finals of different sports - soccer, football, golf, boxing or horse racing. The details about betting are less interesting if you are not into this kind of thing.
