That’s what Edgar’s client claims. Way up in the Appalachian Mountains, far from what most folks would call civilisation, a remote community has a new preacher with some rather disturbing skills.
Worse yet, his followers act more like a cult, their belief in the man behind the miracles dangerously unshakable.
Edgar’s job is to rescue his client’s sister, a woman swept up in the worrying fervour surrounding the enigmatic priest, but trying to disprove a resurrection quickly becomes a fight for his life when the locals begin to understand his motives.
After all, if your preacher can raise the dead, what's the harm in a little death?
Investigate the paranormal? Why didn’t he just say no?
Set in the same world as the original Blue Moon Investigations series, Blue Moon Appalachia provides nerve-tingling thrills, unexpected humour, and a whole heap of fast action. Enjoy!
Barry Napier is the author of The Cooper M. Reid series, The Bleeding Room, Bound, Break Every Chain, Nests, and several other titles. His books span a wide range of genres, from paranormal thrillers to Christian adventure.

Edgar Corey gets his first proper case officially under the Bluemoon umbrella. A man by the name of Chester turns up at his front porch , he looks very disheveled and after the threatening letters he’s been receiving,he’s not quite sure he can trust the stranger enough to invite him indoors, no matter though as happily waits outside ,here he explains his quandary. He needs the new Pastor at his church investigating, he’s worried about his sister who has been missing for three days only to turn up all smiles and adoring the pastor having been different previously. Others too have been affected and not only this but he has raised someone from the dead ?…This did get Edgar’s attention, and he heads to Mann’s Gulley to see what he can find out . Witnessing an horrific scene when a man begs for his long dead son to be brought to life , Edgar has to step in and help the distraught fellow…..What he discovers at the Pastor’s residence is something liken to a cult happening and he is certain that this Saul Miller character isn’t what he seems and he is positive about him not bringing the local deputy’s son from the dead….. Maybe if he can get hard evidence he could get the state police involved but until then he’s on his own ,with a few township allies telling him their individual stories and opinions. Choosing to leave Poppy in Casper Ridge , he increasingly thinks it was a wise move for her safety ,but when things go awry at the pastor’s house Corey himself is in trouble. … can he fathom the man’s tricks and uncover the truth before someone gets hurt or worse as this mad man ups the ante, read and find out . This is an excellent thriller mystery that is well written , great subject that grips the reader from the start and compelled to read on. I read an advance arc of this masterpiece ,my review is my own words and voluntary
This is book 3 in the Appalachia series. Finding I love Edgar! He's not always on the same wavelength that we'd see from Tempest! But he still gets the bad guy! He's an almost FBI which I hope we're going to learn more about as we go. This was a great book!! I wasn't sure he was going to get out of this one until the end!! His first official Blue Moon case and wow it was crazy!! This is going to be a great series if they stay like this one!!
The more we get into this series by Higgs and Napier, the more I like it. Edgar Corey is the newest of the Blue Moon franchisees, and he sure is getting some weird cases. I like the Appalachian settings. It adds to the weirdness because they're a bit different lifestyle than what I am used to being out West. This one was great. Intense situations and interesting characters.
Very tough case! Taking on a case by himself, without his sidekick, Poppy, Edgar finds himself in an extremely dangerous situation. Caution is the number one rule of working alone. This story was a hair raiser! How on earth can being a witnesses to a resurrection be anything but the truth?!? How far will people go to protect that truth? Great story telling! And great story!
I really enjoy this series, Appalachian, Boston, Sacramento, wherever. Well written, funny at times , with a catch that keeps you interested to say beyond the end of each book. Only 4 stars as the wait between books can be annoying, but keep on doing what your doing!
I like these.... almost seems a confessional lutheran wrote it!!
This is a good series for teens and older people such as myself. I appreciate the lutheran terminology even if by accident. I'm a theologian or ley person who enjoys the paranormal or the exposing truth to what is wrong. I enjoyed it so far. Will continue with the rest.
WOWZER!!! WHAT AN AMAZING STORY! I'm embarrassed to admit that I very close to NOT reading this book! Although I was extremely sleepy at the beginning of the story!! However, it also didn't take long at all to realize this #3 book was already epic!!! I actually did not even put this book down once I picked it up!! IT'S TOTALLY WORTH THE READ!!!
This is the third book so far in the Blue Moon Appalachia series. I read all 3 in two days and now I am mad at myself for not pacing it out. Book 4 will be out in 6 more days but I want it NOW! Very good series as are all of the Blue Moon books. I will just have to distract myself with the Blue Moon Sacramento series in the meantime. Great Books!!
Enjoyed all of Steve Biggs books so moved onto his collaborations once I heard of them. Very good got sucked into the story and enjoy the lead characters and all of these so far. Looking forward to the next.
Wow! Cults and miracles make for an exciting investigation for Edgar in Appalachia. What will Edgar find in this small town with its charismatic preacher who can apparently raise the dead? This is a great story!
Trying to help a client figure out what was happening in his small corner of the Appalachian mountains, leads to a shyster minister, drugs and corruption.
Well written, keeps your attention while trying to figure out what will happen next. I love detective novels and this series is definitely one of the best I have read.
I liked the story quite well, but am completely disappointed that we didn’t get answers for what happened with Stanley…what exactly the drugs used were etc.
Wow, in this third installment of the Blue Moon Appalachia things really heat up.for Edgar. To the point of him almost losing his life. This was really a wild and crazy ride. I enjoyed the book and I can hardly wait to see where the Blue Moon team takes us next.
