Who can't fall in love with The Book of the Kells? After seeing the animated film 8 wanted to learn more. Picked this up at a thrift store.

It covers about half dozen predecessing manuscripts from Iona in Scotland, Northern England, and Ireland.

These manuscripts are simply wonderful. Beautiful works of art and letters.

The Kells manuscript is the triumph. More intricate. More bold. More illustrations.

This volume is a very detailed scholarly treatment. It's a little dry and difficult to read at times.

Hoewel ik hem niet volledig gelezen heb (foei!) en voornamelijk doorgebladerd (was niet zo relevant voor mijn stage!), zie je meteen dat dit een boek is met kwaliteit. Veel platen en toelichting.
