My rating is horribly biased, so please do read my actual review.
I bought this for myself as a birthday present a few years ago, a fond indulgence of my lit crit hobby and love for Stephen Dunn.
It’s taken me so long to finish because I’ve rationed the essays out like treats. Some are good, some bad, some enjoyable, some startling, all helping to illuminate in some way this favorite poet of mine.
I was introduced to poems I had never read before, and saw Dunn placed in contexts I would not have thought of. This anthology takes us to meet Dunn's contemporaries, his students, his admirers, and ends with notes from the man himself.
I'm so glad this book exists. I could wallow in Dunn all day. Must buy Walking Light next.
