The Heroes of Edenville
Wynnie's a young woman with a dark past, seeking refuge on an island far from the life she knew. She's angry and perfectly content to hate the world forever... until she meets Davis. One look into his eyes and Wynnie knows she'll never have to suffer her secret alone again.
Davis is the leader of a particularly unusual gang of young men whose mysterious auras and deformities, scare the island inhabitants, labeling them as rejects. Like the others, Davis has never met a girl like Wynnie... neither has Davis's cousin; the hateful and dangerous Falcon. They battle each other to win her heart, and at the same time, thwart an invisible enemy who threatens their very existence.
Fighting to stay alive, and trying to fit into a society that can literally FEEL their abnormalities, will Wynnie and Davis's gang learn what it means to be human, and what it takes to be a hero?

If there were more stars available, I would've given it more. 8 out of ten with one star dropped because I think it was originally written as YA and then switched to 'New Adult' to make it more marketable - but the characters still act YA sometimes. And one lost because I didn't enjoy the artwork. Otherwise, this book was awesome. I loved how the author showed you Wynnie's pain - yeah by making her a little angsty at first (and frankly if she was my daughter and spoke to me that way, she would've been grounded until she got her first gray hair), but also by letting you feel how angry she was and WHY. (She has really good reasons for being a PITA - trust me.) I loved Falcon and Jason best next. You'll get why when you read the book.
Even though I'm not a teen (heck, my kid won't be a teen after next week), I really enjoyed this book. A little irritated at the ending, but hey, I get why Wunderlin wrote it that way. It's supposed to be the first of a trilogy, so the author had to do what she did. But still...

Enjoyed the concept, as well as most of the characters. Wynnie irritated me at times ... She went from extremely hot headed and bitter to "i love all my guys" In the blink of an eye. If anyone could use more depth its her. The only other issue I have is with the "super powers" they possess. I wish they had a set ability...instead, it seems as if they continue to get more (at only the most convenient point in the book). Seems like either an easy way out of a plot point for the author, or just a hot mess. Regardless, I'll be reading the next installment. It was well written and fast paced.
Correction: I'll read the next installment when it's available electronically ... Ugh! Frustrating!
