I know it wasn't written specifically for "us" but this is a perfect book for transracial adoptive parents or foster parents. The content covers every aspect of hair care. Proper hair care and style is very important for all African American or Biracial children and is not something the average Caucasian parent understands without a little help.

*disclaimer for adoptive parents* Don't forget to find an African American friend who can help mentor your child's love of their hair along with a positive hair stylist!

-Thank you Michele-really, thank you.

Good, quick overview of the basic principles of hair care and styling. There is a very helpful section on infant hair care. The style sections are good for browsing different options, but the instructions could have been more detailed.

The practical tips are useful, but the strength lies in the anecdotal stories that illustrate how different families cope with the challenges and opportunities of styling the hair of African-American girls.
