My name is Sicily Chase. All I wanted was one last, fun filled girls's weekend in Vegas before summer break was over. I wanted to hang out by the pool, do some shopping, hit the clubs, meet a hot guy - you know let loose. Well, I did all that and then some but little did I know that my one night stand would turn into so much more not to mention introduce me into a supernatural world I never knew existed.

This isn't going to be a 'formal' review, just a few thoughts to explain the low rating. I've hidden the entire review, because it turned out to be a lot harder to explain just how ridiculous some of this stuff was without spoiling the story. So, be forewarned, my commentary spoils a lot of the plot.

The book starts with Sicily and her friend having a wild weekend in Vegas. By their definition a wild weekend is having crazy sex with people they just met. For a 18-20 year old I could go along with that, but Sicily is supposed to be a 27 year old Kindergarten teacher. It seemed out of the realm of a character with that background..BUT since I read quite a few erotic romances I could forgive this.

What I couldn't forgive was after having the 'best sex of her life' with a guy she met a club she realizes he didn't use a condom. Well, Sicily has a huge problem with this since she's not on any birth control, so she says she needs to go get the morning after pill. When the man asks what that is Siciliy's reply is,

"It's an over the counter abortion pill that will make sure nothing sticks."

WHAT?!Umm... NO. That is not what the morning after pill is. And I would assume a 27 year old college education woman would know that. But whatever......moving on........

FF six weeks and, SURPRISE, Sicily is preggo. (It's a book called Breeders, what do you expect?LOL)

After long considering her options (about 30 mins of sitting in the bathtub) Siciliy decides that,

"Abortion seemed the easiest, although there would be the whole guilt thing about killing an innocent baby."

Again......WTF? 'The whole guilt thing' are you serious? I'm not going to turn this into a pro-life/pro-choice war. But the funniest thing is I'm pro-choice all the way and even I find her attitude disgusting. 'The whole guilt thing' *Shake my head*


Okay so eventually she goes to have the abortion, has an anxiety attach and runs out of the clinic. She meets Auzi in the parking lot, he makes her feel better, they exchange phone numbers and *BAM* 3 weeks later, a couple of dates, some sexin, and they're in love and Auzi is all about raising the baby as his. (again, erotic romance, I can forgive this)

But, oh no, happily ever after isn't for these two. Sicily soon finds out that her baby-daddy and Auzi are from a race of beings called Breeders. They can't have babies of their own, so they go out and get humans preggo to continue their race.

The whole explanation is really vague as to why they can't have their own babies. Why they don't just do like other PNR/Sci-Fi characters and mate (permanently/monogamously) outside of their race (instead of just knocking people up and coming back to steal the babies at a later date) is beyond me.

So of course Sicily's baby daddy (Ripon) comes back and wants the baby because he promised it to his sister. Sicily is disgusted and can't believe that he would even THINK to take HER child. The whole time she's freaking out about this but never once demonizes the whole community for being a bunch of baby snatching weirdos. Only Ripon gets that hate.

Just another WTF moment :/

I don't think I've ever highlighted or taken so many notes on a book before. If I kept going this commentary (because I guess it's not really a review) could go on and on.

So, yeah....one star..sorry

Don't bother unless you want badly written smut with worse dialogue. Get an editor, a plot and maybe you can elevate this book above a sad attempt to capitalize on the current paranormal porn push in publishing. I got too disgusted to finish it and I have been known to read cereal boxes when I am desperate.

Very different, but enjoyable read! Would be nice to have a bunch of hunks lounging around my living room, forget the T.V. who needs it with eye candy like that? ;-)

Keep your teenager's far from this book. No...keep going...even further. As for yourself, if you typically shy away from graphic, adult content you should steer clear as well. If, however, you might be curious...just the tiniest bit... you won't be disappointed. You know those sinful fantasies you keep secret, but know deep down that every female has the same one? Author Charlie Day just wrote it out in vivid detail and sold that ____! (I don't curse, you fill in the blank.) Ah, yes, that reminds me, there is quite a bit of cursing as well. In case this is also offensive to you.

Reading through Breeder's gave my mind a much needed break from reading. Yes, I said that and meant it. The prose and dialogue are easy and laid back. It felt more like having those conversation's with your girlfriend's that have you cackling as the men in your lives roll their eyes. I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere.

This is story may be a far cry from the typical action-packed adventure's I tread through daily, but it is not without its mysteries. The writer delicately places hints of the paranormal throughout the story to make it obvious, but to not draw any attention away from our protagonist's romance. There are twists here and there to keep the question's interesting. It is interesting enough without them, truth be told.

I loved the characters and loved to hate Ripon. As a mother, it was easy to relate to the need to rip his head off. Auzi, on the other hand, I adored! He is perfect. He is sweet, thoughtful, affectionate, tends to each and every one of Sicily's desire's. Yes, ALL of them. I'd like to order two, please? Actually, one would be more than adequate, haha.

Let us not forget Auzi's vivacious comrades! Without a doubt, there would be a void to fill without their constant shenanigan's and devout loyalty. I love my guy friend's and these fella's help complete the story.

My normal tendency to keep books of erotic details at bay has been banished. I have no choice but to read Breeder's 2 now.

I would rate this book at a solid four stars. The concept behind the Breeders was excellent. The book was well-written and flowed nicely for the most part. When it started to lose my attention a bit, I was starting to wonder if there would be any more to this book, when along came Ripon, the bad guy, again and suddenly I was cheering "Go Sicily!" The supporting cast of characters was wonderful, and I look forward to reading their stories. A couple of parts of this story did take me out of my comfort zone, but isn't that what it's all about? All in all, a good read, although I suspect I'm not alone in wishing that Ripon had met an early demise. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

I really got into this book. I started reading and couldn't put it down. I just came by this book by accident just going through Amazon and I knew that I just had to read it.

This was so new and really loved reading something that I hadn't read about before. I am hoping there will be more.

You know this sort of seems pretty cut and dried til you start reading, charlie has a way of bringing you into the story so that you feel there. Really like this and cant wait for the next which is soon i hope. Need to know about Dallas and his father!

Good read but too many unanswered questions!

the writer never explain how the aliens got to earth or are they a different species who originated on earth. I did like the story but felt a lot was left out.

A must read!

Intense love story about a woman and a man who will do anything for her. A little Rocky in the beginning but it quickly turns into a book you can't put down.

I didn't really care for this book. It wasn't anything like I expected. Most of the book wasn't really paranormal to me. There was no culture or history. Just everyday life with a bit of sappy romance. Then there was the climax of the book, but it was annoying. The fighting was unnecessary and Sicily was too worried about payback than her crying, distressed son. Finally, I usually enjoy reading threesomes but this was disgusting. The language was crude from the uninvited guest. I just didn't like it.
