Sister WhoDat, NY Agent

Rate this book
Megan McCoy has pursued a solitary dream for the past six years: to become a New York literary agent. She has always achieved every goal she has pursued. She never missed a day of seminary, she was the girls' camp extraordinaire, and she edited her high school and college newspapers. It seems that Megan McCoy is unstoppable, even if she's just five feet and one-and-one-quarter inch tall.

Now, after graduating from Kansas State and saving enough money for her internship, she has a chance to prove herself once again and take the first step in her career at one of the most prestigious agencies around. But once she arrives in the Big Apple, she realizes that maybe she's not the superhero she thought she was.

Maybe getting rejected from the ward choir is just the start. Maybe, just maybe, reaching this goal will take every ounce of strength she's got. Will it be enough?

Okay, I've read this twice now. It's so good, I didn't have the guts to write about it the first time around. I love Rachel's writing!! Her descriptions are vivid, but never go on too long. The action and relationships are so realistic, you can actually picture some of your friends and acquaintances, and co-workers, as these people. I hope Megan and Owen stay together -- can't wait for the sequel. My only complaint about this lovely little novel is its length -- it was too short. We could have used a bit more back story on several of the characters to round it out a little more and let us have some more of Rachel's awesome writing. I'd like to see Rachel rewrite this for the non-LDS young adult scene -- what a novelty that would be! A young adult novel where the adults are not all clueless, corrupt, mean, or absent, and with an admirable main character trying to work hard and do some good in the world. Love it.

Really, when's the sequel?

Rachel Tolman Terry can really write! Her characters have so many layers of realism that I keep thinking they're people I know rather than fictional creations. I am so looking forward to reading everything she writes. :)

Such a cute story; a strong, refreshing human being as the protagonist and a unique setting for the plot to unfold. I really got more than irritated by the roommate and the sloppy co-worker and the outcome of the job internship. Grrrr....! But just when you're thinking the good guy (girl) doesn't always win, the plot takes some clever, surprising twists and the reader enjoys a delightful ending. Ahhh.......

Course the best part of this fun electronic-read is it was WRITTEN BY OUR AWESOME DAUGHTER-IN-LAW!!!!! (For you, who know our family, she's our oldest son, Ben's wife.) Rachel Terry's a very smart girl and has a gift with words. Read this book, friends.

Megan McCoy has just landed an internship for her dream job as a literary agent in New York City. The only problem is there are two other interns who want her job as well. Megan only has a few short months to prove she's the right person for the job.

I really enjoyed reading this delightful tale of a young woman from a small town, who isn't afraid to do the right thing. The writing is clever, and the novel is squeaky clean. I highly recommend it!

This book was an excellent read. I love the portrayal of how this confident, prepared young woman from a small mid-western town moves to New York City to hopefully pursue her dream job. I love that Megan is so caring of others. At first I didn't understand the Vespa on the book cover, but once I read the story I understood perfectly. I look forward to more books from Rachel Tolman Terry. I'm very happy to have this book in my collection.
