fun and silly
“Captain Inkbeard and the Treasure of Monkey Island" offers a refreshing take on pirate stories, presenting them as kind and selfless heroes. This adventure-filled book, laced with humor, appeals to both kids and grown-ups, emphasizing the virtues of kindness, courage, and helping others. The book has several silly parts (farting, etc.) but I think that would appeal to kids. Overall, this book is an enjoyable journey that combines entertainment with lessons on moral values.

Silly Fun
This was a light, playful read full of amusing characters and entertaining adventure. There’s some nice problem solving and positive messaging mixed in with zany humor and a smattering of the kind of amusing rudeness kids find hilarious. Seems like the potential start of a series featuring the octopus Captain Inkbeard and his crew of squids, crabs, and even a salamander. Lots of fun.

This book was given to my 10 year old son for his birthday by a family friend. He loves monkeys so that was why she got it for him. It is a cute book, great storyline, and had a good mix of new vocabulary for him to learn, like matey, scalawag, and more! I will be looking for more by this author!

Lame ending
The story was fine for a children’s chapter book. What was not acceptable was ending a single stand-alone basic children’s book on a cliff-hanger.

Captain Inkbeard and the Teasure of Monkey Island is fantastic. It has many literary devices to help young readers as they are reading a truly entertaining and humorous book at the same time. I truly appreciate 2 main lessons taught within the pages of this book. 1) Ability to read truly is a gift.
2) Simple things can truly be treasures. Really looking forward to the next book in the series.
Well done, Ms. Compeau!
