Lovely little piece of literature. Excellent vocabulary for a kids book compared to some modern fluff that is around now. My boys really enjoyed the story and learning about clouds.
A delightful picture book - an admirable first offering from NZ author illustrator Terri Rose Baynton. It speaks gently of how true friends are sensitive to the needs of their friends and willing to "go the extra mile" simply to make their friend happy. The language was beautiful - lyrical carrying the simple story line effortlessly. The illustrations were beautifully simple yet expressive line drawings, highlighted with a soft creme and red colour palette which reinforces the gentle storyline. Couldn't help but be reminded just a little of "Happy Birthday Moon" by Frank Asch. Congratulations Terri. I look forward to your next one.
In a style reminiscent of Winnie the Pooh (A.A Milne style, not Disney), Terri Rose Baynton has written and illustrated a gorgeous picture book for ages four and up. The illustrations are simple (black outlines with red and brown colouring) and the writing is incredibly beautiful – an impressive feat given the constrictions of the age range it is for...
