[Siren Everlasting Classic Erotic Alternative Fantasy Romance, M/M, HEA] James Flynn has captured the most handsome man he's ever met. The problem is that Quinn Rossi is a fire mage, and one of the men who attacked James's friends. Quinn does not set off his evil alarm bells. In fact, the naive man is so innocent and trusting that he latches onto James for protection, slowly falling for him, until he can prove that he wanted no part of the attack. But when a fire starts and Quinn is blamed, James realizes how much he's grown to love the other man, and he runs away with him. Soon it becomes apparent that on their own, out in the wild, they stand no chance of surviving or evading capture from vampire slavers, and after James has risked everything to keep Quinn safe, he must take another risk—to return to the village and place himself at the mercy of his peers, and possibly take Quinn's place if blood is demanded. ** A Siren Erotic Romance

Found to be cute read! Since we've already seen the 'sparks' when they 'met' at the end of the previous book, we jump right in with just a bit of character switching to set up for I'm assuming the next book (plus you'll see set up for another book closer to the end ;) ...)
Hank is back again causing a bit of trouble with the newest paranormal captive, making James' life harder as he tries to figure out why he's so protective of Quinn. The interesting thing we learn about fire mages is that though they can start fires, they can not control anything about them after that. Plus Quinn can and DOES get burned just like anyone else by fire. Due to a little confusion the villagers may blame Quinn for the barn fire even though James saves Quinn, and moments later Quinn has to pull James to safety. This is the catalyst for the boys leaving the village and 'running away'. The blurb plays this up a bit more than actual events for me but it turns out ok. Can't wait to see Vaughn 'tame the wild beast' and for Hank to get his.. all coming soon to a theater near you... LOL
Of all the books in this series thus far this is probably the one I like the least. It’s not awful or anything, but I feel that there’s a lot less to truly connect these two guys. On Quinn’s part we have a case of Stockholm syndrome, and for James it’s the way Quinn reminds him of his deceased lover. Everything else is sex.
The timing seems seriously off as well, all depending on the precise point of Vaughn’s abduction. I.e. whether it happened before Frederik arrived (which is how Vaughn has never heard of him) or whether it happened three weeks later, shortly before the attack by the mages (which is the reason they kept Quinn around for questioning).
Also. Few things are more awkward and disrupting than the author using a wrong name in the middle of something intensely sensual. Particularly if it’s in someone’s fantasy and if the substitute name is that of a previous protagonist who’s happily coupled up.
While I am happy that the author by now fully embraces the necessity of lube, I do wonder that none of these men seem to appreciate any sexual activity other than fucking. What happened to the beautiful simplicity of mutual hand jobs? Surely that will be less dangerous in exposed situations, plus save more of that presumably expensive salve.
I think my biggest issue with this story really does come down to how it is a little more about sex and physical attraction than the previous volumes have been. On two fronts, even (the primary couple and the setup for the next instalment). Hank’s issues actually turn into show stealers that way – and provide some much needed balance.
The best so far in this series! It was entertaining and very well rounded. The plot did have a lot of similarities as the first book in this series but it didn't take away anything.
