A hard-working doorman loves his job at the front of a big city apartment house, where he is especially dedicated to the elderly and young residents there, until the sad day when he is no longer there to greet his friends.
This book takes you through a day in the life of a doorman. He helps the little old ladies, plays with the kids, and helps everyone who comes his way. You really like they guy by the time the day is done.
Then he dies. Yeah, wasn't expecting that. The book was very focused on a doorman's job and how he interacts with others, and to me, the author didn't give enough warning/foreshadowing/whatever about what was going to happen. Then we go through how everyone misses him so much, and all that.
So I would recommend this book to those talking about death rather than those interested in doormen, like my son.
