The hellish hurricane known as Katrina is bearing down on New Orleans.
As it screams toward landfall, one man knows the truth about its origin and power. One man has seen the mighty Angel that was called from the depths to wreak destruction and rain new evil onto the world. That man is Robert Arthur Dagon, the leading mentalist and magician of his generation. But Dagon is much more than an illusionist. He is a spirit traveler who knows how to leave his body and enter unseen worlds.
With his beautiful business partner, Ellison Carter, he owns the hottest magic nightclub in New Orleans. Dagon's Illusion is in a huge old Garden District mansion once called Maron House. Built by slaves, it is a place of ancient loveliness and grandeur and one of the most haunted buildings in America. On this night of shrieking destruction, the past and present crash together. Dimensional doors are thrown open that cannot be closed and a great conspiracy of evil finds a home in Dagon’s Illusion.
Read the prophecies. Time is speeding up. The Invisible War of Eons is rushing toward the Final Conflict. A man who believes only in himself is about to face Dark Thrones.
Confused about the capitalization of Certain Things in this book. Seemingly at Random, stuff would be capitalized, with No explanation of why. It was a jumbled knot of characters, religions, parallel planes, time travel etc. and had a few parts with a black eyed doppelgänger demon thingy, that scared the hell out of me. Then it just pffffftttt ended. I liked the characters, they were very realistic but it was just too much....crap. Pick one thing. I gave it 3 stars because there was some good description of those alien places despite all the extraneous BS.
It started off awesome. Very intense and intriguing. Then it just kind of did nothing for a long time. All of the main characters were just waiting around for the real characters to tell them what is happening. I enjoyed the cosmology. It was surprising and had alot of potential. My favorite idea was the imprisoned god-demon that split herself up into millions of pieces to escape. Unfortunately it didn't really go anywhere. Eventually it just ended leaving me to wonder why the main characters were even featured in the story.
This is one wild ass book. I had trouble following it at times because it jumps through time, space and other dimensions. Lots of unique characters and a great setting. Can't wait for the next book to see what happens!
