The Dream Giver for Teens

Rate this book
It's time to begin the journey of your life. Let Bruce and Jessica Wilkinson help you find your dream and pursue it on a quest to discover the life you've always dreamed of.
The moment happens to all of us-the moment when we realize that we don't live in a world where everyone lives "happily ever after." When that happens, most of us stop chasing our dreams and instead begin trying to forget them. Deep down, though, we still hold on to the hope that "just maybe" the voice inside telling us "there is more to life than this" will turn out to be right.
"And it is right." There "is" more. The secret lies deep within your heart. It's trying to show you a life that can only happen when you chase your wildest dreams.

Story Behind the Book
In this series of specially focused books, the Wilkinsons take teaching to a new level by introducing a modern-day parable specific to each title; The Dream Giver for Parents, The Dream Giver for Couples, and The Dream Giver for Teens. Each chapter with teaching and application is matched to the parable so that we understand God's desire for us to pursue the dream he gave us. "From the Hardcover edition."

I had been recommended by my grandmother to read the book. Before reading this book, I was not an avid reader of nonfiction writing, but after this I probably will be. When I first started reading this book I thought that it would be dull. Thankfully, I was wrong. The Dream Giver is a little story about a very big idea. This compelling fiction story is about a young boy named Ordinary, who dares to leave the land of Familiar to pursue his Big Dream. One day the Dream giver convinces him to break free from his comfort zone. Overcoming bullies, his greatest fears along with the wasteland. This book will teach you how to stand up. How to be more than just Ordinary.
Overall, I highly recommend this book to any reader. This book takes you on journeys that teach you the opportunity to grow and find your destiny. Join Ordinary on his journey to pursue his big dream. All throughout his story I felt nothing but excitement, delight, curiosity, and surprise. I couldn’t keep my nose out of this book. If you're up for a book full of adventure, excitement, and even a few life lessons. I highly recommend this book.

I’ve had this book for awhile, but I’m finally reading it at a good time, when my own dreams are being realized. While the start of this book can feel very Disney-fied in it’s concepts of going after your dreams, following your heart, and standing out instead of fitting in, I can see where the author was going. The central key to the dream is that it’s for God’s glory and it’s bigger than we could do on our own. If the reader misses that, they could be launched on the path of a very selfish dream. However, if they see the importance of surrendering that dream and pursuing it for God’s sake then they will follow a dream that will fulfill their heart’s deepest and holiest desires and bring God glory. So let this book encourage you to dream and then build that dream in the foundation of the gospel and the path of our Master and His cross. In the end, you won’t regret it.

Really great story that is told about following your dreams. It has the stages that most people go through when they make the decision of following their dreams. Two parts to the book, the first is a story about a boss named ordinary who is a nobody living in familiar. He ventures out to the unfamiliar and pursues his dream to become a somebody. Second part just explains the story.
