Calling Jesus Names: The Social Value of Labels in Matthew

Calling Jesus Names is about several things. While it focuses on Christology, it treats only one document, the gospel of Matthew. It specifically examines the negative and positive assessments of Jesus in conflictual situations. In regard to these Christological conflicts, we will interpret them from the viewpoint of the social sciences. We focus, then, on interpreting from a social science perspective the conflict over the correct evaluation of Jesus in the gospel of Matthew.
