An out-of-work salesman looking for a job stumbles upon Harry, an orphan who's aged out of the system and is a self-taught musician. After their chance meeting on a forest lane, the two partner up for a new adventure that should be lucrative for both. After all, if one member of their little team has business smarts and the other other has talent, the sky's the limit in what they could achieve. Their first stop? A small village named Hamelin that has a pretty serious rat problem. The two men may have found their first client, but the results of their business venture are about to have some unforseen results.
Harry and Me is a modern take on the Pied Piper of Hamelin, but without the nasty parts. Walter first meets Harry at the side of the road. Harry seems sad and not happy with his life. Walter notices how the animals come out and gather around Harry as he plays his piper; Walter suggests that they go to Hamlin and offer Harry's services to the town. You know, Harry will play his pipe and lead the rats away. However, as everyone knows from the original story, not everything works out for the people of Hamelin.
Harry and Me is a really fun short story with a lot of heart and not is bitter nor does it have the sad, scary part of the original story. It is a quick read - you get to like to the two main characters of the story very much. Both of them are lost and they seem to help each other find their place in the world. Great story and very enjoyable - I highly recommend it!
