A very insightful collection of essays and articles from one of the leading American art critics of the 1960s and 70s. A fierce defender of Willem de Kooning and Saul Steinberg. Many articles originally ran in the New Yorker, others are from museum catalogs and book forwards. Highly recommended reading for the serious student of American Art of the 20th century.
