This is Michael Hennings' first book, and I though it was good for a first effort. The story reads well, and I liked how it was paced, meaning it did not drag along for several chapters.

It starts out with a murder, then unfolds from there into something tragic and sadly all too common. The characters were likeable but had enough flaws to not be too tedious.

I also want to add that this was based on true events in his life that he has kept hidden until now. The subject might hit close to home for many, as it did me.

Pretty well written for a first book. It is not a long book, but holds your interest to the end. I have some bias as I am related to the author, but I am a reader and if it hadn't held my attention I could not give a good review. If you have ever lived in or near Moorhead, you will definitely recognize some of the places mentioned in the book. Reading a story set in a location you know does add to your interest in the story. I can confirm he knows how to keep a secret!
