Before we go any further, even the title on its own is great. I mean, really. Zoo on the Moon. That fires off just about every flare in my brain. It's one of those titles I wish I'd thought of. To me, the possibilities are countless and wonderful. A book called Zoo on the Moon should be pretty darn great.
And thankfully I wasn't let down. This is pure enjoyment from one page to the next.

Our new meerkat friend introduces us to a wonderous place, the Zoo on the Moon, and it turns out to be place with possibilities quite unlike those available to us down here on Earth...

The illustrations are a delight – each and every animal is wonderful in its depiction, and there are plenty of delightful laughs to be had. They're all very endearing in their other-worldly enterprises. My own personal favourite is the very serious-looking elephant in his flying goggles. The rhymes have a light and easy rhythm that will make it a joy for children to read or to listen to. There's an effortless flow to the writing, and Robin does a great job of conjuring an out-of-this-world setting in four tight lines per page.

Any subject is best approached with fun at heart, and science is no exception. The concept of weightlessness is introduced to young children in an imaginative manner that should get them thinking about what it would be like to be in space themselves, floating around and free of all the boring rules of gravity! It's an excellent form of teaching; introduce a new idea in the form of the story itself, rather than hammering home dull and boring facts and figures.

I suspect that this will be one of those picture books that is returned to again and again. This is one for space-nuts and animal fanatics. Loads of fun, and a memorable piece of work.

Cute story! Davis Walker has written and illustrated a sure to tickle littles imaginations book. Kids will likely continue to add their own alien creatures to the moon zoo, and dream of one day visiting. Nice art prompt, too! Kids can draw their own beasties after the story. Fun for pre to 2nd grade.
I received a KIndle arc from Netgalley in exchange for a fair review.

I read this to my children and they became distracted and bored. The pictures don't really capture their imagination and they don't ask me to read it anymore.
