I saw this very small book for $.99 in the Kindle store and thought it was a steal at such a price. After reading it, I'm not so sure. I definitely wouldn't have paid any more.
This book is a compilation of articles that discuss different aspects of the topic, but the articles were not edited for the book as far as I can tell. The result is somewhat of a mess. Many of the articles stray off into topics that don't belong in the book, such as training methods. The information was interesting and useful, but the book felt unfocused. At the end of the book, I wasn't very sure what 7 lessons I was supposed to learn.
The one thing that I found extremely useful was the suggestion that you should be practicing your draw a lot more than your shot. I found that article very convincing, but still I wasn't sure why this was one of the crucial lessons that everyone had to know before they draw their gun during an altercation.
Altogether, I think the delivery is far short of the promise that the title makes to the reader. I feel cheated when somebody creates a book by cobbling together a few previously written articles that don't fit particularly well together. I feel like there is an unwritten contract between an author and publisher, and a reader: the reader gives the publisher his hard-earned money, and in exchange, the author and publisher work hard to put together something that delivers what the title claims to be. The feeling I get from a book like this is that I got suckered by a publishers get-rich quick scheme. Even if it wasn't intended to make money, I still felt cheated. The fact that the book was only a dollar saves it, but I was still disappointed.
The article provides good information on a broad range of areas related to the subject. It does appear however to be copies compiled from other articles or publications. Some of the topics are a bit of a mishmash-for example discussion on hunting hunting when the book's title is about concealed carry.
This $0.99 book in the Kindle store might be a good read for a small price. Not so fast! I definitely wouldn't have paid any more. While the seven things are covered in the first few percentiles, the remainder of the book is a compilation of articles that discuss different aspects of the topic, probably taken from the USCCA web site. Edited? I doubt it...copy/paste? Probably. This was a quick read but offered little value over existing knowledge or that which is available over the internet.
