The Masó artist and collectors. Catalog of the exhibition that presents for the first time a selection of works of ancient and modern art that the Masó family acquired in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries to show to what extent the presence and contemplation of the Art was an essential fact in their lives and how they wanted to reach this value to future generations. Includes works by Eugenio Lucas, Vicente López, Modest Urgell, Laureà Barrau, Joan Brull, Celso Lagar, Mela Muter, Xavier Montsalvatge, Enric Casanovas, Feliu Elias and Martí Gimeno, amongst others, accompanied by an interesting sample of drawings of Spanish and Italian artists from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, and decorative objects of ceramics, wood and glass from the 15th to the 20th centuries.

About the author

Ignasi Domènech i Vives és llicenciat en història de l’art (1985) i màster en museologia per la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (1987). És cap de col·leccions dels Museus de Sitges (Museu del Cau Ferrat, Museu de Maricel i Museu Romàntic can Llopis) des del 2009. Ha estat professor associat del Departament d’Art de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2009-2013) i anteriorment va dirigir l’Escola de les Arts del Vidre de la Fundació Centre del Vidre de Barcelona, on va dirigir també el Departament de Restauració (1992-2002). També ha desenvolupat la seva carrera professional com a tècnic del Departament d’Arts Decoratives a Castellana Subhastes (1999-2003). Ha estat membre del Comitè d’Admissió i Selecció del Saló d’Antiquaris i Art Modern de Barcelona (2000-2011).
