Revealing Hamilton

Rate this book
A conversation with a stranger changes Amelia Hamilton's life forever. When she learns her grandfather faked his own death, normalcy slips from Amelia's grasp. To make matters worse, he is coming for her in less than seven days. What she hasn't determined is why.

Amelia's grandfather, Marius Benedict, once headed The Physician Coalition, an elite group of doctors who threw the Hippocratic Oath out the window. Years ago, they used a low-risk medical research study as a front for their experiments. Without their consent, innocents were injected with JackRabbit7, a hazardous substance used to alter their DNA. The victims were left with less-than-desirable super-human powers or excruciating death. Years after he disbanded the group, Marius has a new plan and is reforming The Coalition.

Max, a mysterious stranger from the Insurance Agency, offers to help keep Amelia safe. He introduces The Agency as an underground government organization that contains and eliminates those who intend to harm the world. To protect The Agency, the truth of their activities are concealed and replaced with sugar-coated stories in the media.

Over the course of the next week, Amelia has to accept the truth and learn who can be trusted. At midnight on her 23rd birthday, a contract between The Coalition and The Insurance Agency will expire, giving Marius full rein to approach his granddaughter and finish the project he started with her so many years ago

Reading order of the JackRabbit7 series:
The ones with an asterisk are the short stories I wrote. They're backstories on the supporting characters and how their lives intertwine with Amelia's and/or JackRabbit7.

I won a paperback copy from the author and will be sharing my review.
The title of this book fits perfectly with the story. In this story I found that I lived on the edge of my seat for what Amelia would find out next from things that had been left in the dark. Amelia knows very little about her parents. She does know that she was raised by her grandfather and lived from foster home to foster home thru periods of her life. With nightmares of JackRabbit7 haunting her dreams at night, it’s the only connection that she fears the most from her past. But the pull to know more from her past will be her biggest haunt of all. With the few friends that she has, she will learn more than she would like about their connections to her. Meeting Max in the middle of the night after realizing things aren’t the way they seemed to be with Connor, her life is about to take a turn. But what happens when friends become enemies and enemies become friends? No one is who she thought they were. The truth will be unleashed but at what expense to Amelia and her heart? Can she be the one to help put an end to what her grandfather has caused? This is one of those great reads that left me asking “When can I expect the next book in the series?”

I've got to say, I've never read a book quite like this. Full of intelligent dialogue, biting sarcasm (just the way I like it!), and
some imagery that gave me the creepy-crawlies.

I'd guess that a lot of planning went into this baby. There were so many twists and turns in the plot that you'd need a notebook to keep them straight while writing. But even with all the plot twists, everything is tied up in a neat little bow by the end, preparing to launch you into the next book.

For a debut, this is an excellent piece of work, and I look forward to opening "Embracing Hamilton."

This was an absolutely fantastic book and had me completely gripped from start to finish!!!

Mia has to wrap her brain around some truly unbelievable things and only a short time frame to do so!

oh. em. gee

This is possibly the hardest review ive ever written. Mainly because I want to spoil EVERYTHING for you. And at the same time I dont want to tell too much because one thing I really loved about Revealing Hamilton was all the emotions I was feeling from amused. Hurt. Disbelief and Awe. I really dont want you to lose out cause I couldnt keep my trap shut!

Amelia is surviving. Her life is kinda a mess, she works a shitty job in a diner and her boyfriend is an abusive douchebag. Her best girl friends act suspicious and well her best guy friend acts a little friendly. Oh and her parents died years ago causing Amelia to live with her grandfather who up and dies (or does he) on her a few years later. Shes put into the system and so yeah shes surviving.

After loosing her dead end diner job she comes home to find her douchebag boyfriend and her best girl friend wresting. Naked. If you get what im saying. She runs off and during her breakdown meets Max. Now Max says that he knew her father but the guy doesnt look a day older than 29 how the heck does he know him hes been dead 20ish years. Desperate to know more about her dad she agrees to meet him at another time.

She meets him to learn about her father and she does she learns a lot. Her father used to work with the same company as Max IA Insurance Agency. Then lotsa amazing stuff happens both good and bad! Her best guy friend professes his love for her and his sister Amelias other girl friend is murdered! Her grandfather isnt really dead no hes an evil fucking genius who preformed experiments on Amelia as a child! What yeah! I know. JackRabbit7 was created to clean out Amelias dna but it does other stuff fucking awesome stuff if it werent in the hands of a lunatic. The IA has pretty much kept Marius away from Amelia but with the end of the treaty looming near Marius has grown big balls and is already fucking with her.

The Washington branch of the IA is made up of Max, Molly and Nick. Nick fecking HATES Amelia. And when you read it and find out why you kinda understand the reasoning there. However I felt a lot of sexual tension between the two. Real or not who knows. Im a complete perv and see sex where there isnt any. The IA's job is to basically kill Marius. And they need Amelias help so I mean what does she have to lose nothing.

Though all the twists and turns I was CAPTIVATED to say the least. My eyes had a mind of their own. They tried desperately to flutter about the page to get answers I so desperately needed before Carr was ready to divulge them. Carr is an extremely talented writer. I enjoyed every fecking minute of reading her books. She has a way with words that just takes you to a place in your mind thats a little dark and rather awesome.. Shoot. Half the time I was reading I was fantasizing about what awesome ability JackRabbit7 could give me! I'd totally sign up for Mind Bending and Speed Reading :D

Omg.. This was a great freaking book. I'm not one to read thrillers but this one grabbed me in right from the start. Totally unlike any book I e ever read. I was given this book as a gift for my honest review.

I didn't know what to expect as I started to read this book. The more I read the deeper involved I got and I must say, holly crap. I was hooked. This book was about a girl named Amelia who had a bad freaking day. She was fired from her job, her truck broke down and had to walk home in the snow. Her cell phone was dead but she did try to call her boyfriend before it died. Went straight to voicemail, of course. When she finally made it home she finds her boyfriend and best friend in bed together. Yeah, I'd say that was a day from hell all right. Not having anywhere to go she stays on a park bench. Being woken up by a young strange man she's hesitant and a bit freaked out. She's all alone in the middle of the night with a strange man. Perfect ending to her day.

If that's not enough to make you read this it gets better. Way better. There's so much going on. Amelia's life has been turned way upside down but all these new people in her life might just end up helping her figure out all the missing pieces.

There was this one guy, Nick. He was a total jerk. Treated Mia like crud but I had this love hate relationship with him. I'll let you determine for yourself but I'm still deciding weather I like him or not.

I'm so glad that I was able to read this. I never once figured out the plot and honestly I am happy about hat. Sarah portrayed a work of lies and deceit that was so twisted and messed up I felt so bad for Amelia. She had no idea what was in store for her but it was fun finding out.

"Revealing Hamilton" by Sarah Jayne Carr was a real surprise treat for me. It was recommended to me by a friend, so I did not know much about this book before I started reading it and it turned into an addictive reading experience.
Our heroine Amelia leaves her job and finds her boyfriend cheating. You would think that be enough for her life as far as drama goes. But as she tries to come to terms with her problems she meets a stranger who offers help and who surprises her with his ability to explain to her some odd and recurring dreams she is experiencing.

Before you know it the story turns and turns again, revealing - as the title promises - a much bigger picture and new context for her life. She now becomes involved in a battle between a corrupt group of medics who once injected innocents with JackRabbit7, a hazardous substance used to alter their DNA, and the Insurance Agency, a resistance group.
Written in an easy and entertaining style with fast pace and many surprises this is a great compelling read and highly recommended for fans of well plotted thrillers.

Who is Jack?

Altering DNA by injection? By mosquitos? Sounds obsurb? Well not in this story where 6 degrees of separation should be narrowed to 2.

If it wasn’t for the middle of winter where this story is based, then the author would have run of of things to write about.

Cold weather aside, this story is written to be read with the anticipation of more twists and turns to come. Will she and Nick get together? Will her father come back from the dead? Will her character mature and lose her whining? If her granddaddy die at old age, will she die also? Will there be more female characters with curly hair?

After my friend told me, "BECCA YOU NEED TO READ THIS" I was like...sure okay. ;)
Now I'm the one saying "[insert name here] YOU NEED TO READ THIS"

Song Choice: "Murder in the City" by the Avett Brothers, "No Sound but the Wind" by the Editors

First thoughts: So I wasn't really sure what to expect when I started this, was it vampires (the graveyard cover), was it superheroes (something from the description), was it a heavily influenced romance? (comments my friend made ;)) WHAT TO EXPECT, WHAT TO EXPECT. Well here is a run down: Expect the unexpected. Expected to be blown away by the writing, the twist that you just didn't see happen, and the twist maybe were expecting a little but in your head you are just going....noooooo, nooooo, but its so true. Expect: Greatness.

Thoughts on Plot: So I will admit when i first opened this up on my kindle and saw the syringe and mosquito i wanted to message my friend and go, "Wtf??" First off mosquito aside from the common house fly (or moths...moths are scary as hell) are the MOST HATED BUGS EVER....EVER. And currently my house is being taken over by them, swarms of them....so imagine my distaste for them. And syringes? Nothing good comes from that. I moved on, I ignored it and realize how much of a powerful play they both take in this book. So its a bit (hahaha understatement of the year) of a mystery, this read. First off wondering who all these new players are, not to mention how can one girl's life go to shit so fast?! anyways....so in the midst of Amelia's life going to shit, new information is being provided. Here is the thing, pay very, very close attention if you do you might catch onto a few things i started to catch on. I was intrigued by the whole idea of this book. An evil grandfather, doing evil experiments! Superpowers, hot angry male?! COUNT ME IN! Though i will admit these "superpowers" aren't as AWE-inspiring as i was expecting like, no one has super strength, but these I guess now reflecting on it i wouldn't call them super powers, i would call them curses. They aren't meant to help the person who lives with the affliction. So to find out the whole mystery you will have to stay up until 3 am like me, and then wake up early to finish it as fast as you can. Oh and the emotions <3 <--- there is my heart you can take it now....

Characters:

Amelia: She i don't even know how she is standing. A week this book takes place in, a week, not only does her life sort of suck after the first day, but its turned completely upside down almost every single day and she was still standing. I was amazed she didn't freak/go into shock more often, she did once, which it was warranted, trust me. she wasn't weak and I hate that is how Nick seemed see her as. I will get to him in a moment. Anyways she does do a few silly things but i like it more when characters do that, makes it all the more interesting, but i think she handles her situation very well, honestly i wanted to shake her for not freaking out more.

Nick: While my friend is in love with him, I think i still need some more convincing which i am sure in time will happen. Here is the thing though Nick thought he had a hard life, yeah he does from the glimpses we got, i can see that, but he isn't the only one that had a hard life and I don't think it was far how harsh he was on Amelia, but i do understand why he was as well. Either way i am eager to read more about him he seems like a complex character.

Max: Was interesting to say the least. That is all i am going to say because I don't want to give anything away. ^.^

Villain: WOW. O.O even i would be quaking in my boots.

The ending: Definitely good, I want more!!

Some time ago I read the Prequel to Revealing Hamilton… I was fascinated by the prequel and Sarah’s writing style, and wanted to see if she could capture me in her book as well. Did she ever. I was so not prepared for this book. In no way.
Amelia is alone. Meaning, she has no family. The only one she remembers is her Grandfather, and that is something she would prefer to forget. But she has friends, and a boyfriend. Not that I would call him that. Anyways…. Amelia works at the Ellie’s Diner. It’s boring, risky and hard work. The only thing keeping her up is her best friend Donovan, who also happens to work there. One day everything goes terribly wrong, and Amelia accidentally drops an entire plate of entrées on a customer, knocking him unconscious. As a result, Amelia quits (Lorenzo – the owner – behaves like a shit) and walks out of the Diner.
EVERYTHING snowballs from there. And I do mean everything. First her truck (Red) breaks down, then Connor (her boyfriend) don’t pick up the phone, her own phone dies, and she’s forced to walk home through a blizzard…. Only to find out exactly WHY Connor couldn’t pick up his damn phone. Heartbroken and pissed she leaves their apartment. But where to go, with little money, close to Christmas and a snowstorm rolling down upon her? In steps Max, a complete stranger. He offers her to stay with him for the night, which Amelia accepts after thinking on it. But it turns out it wasn’t so accidental that Max and Amelia bumped into each other. Max is the head of this division of The Insurance Agency, and he shows (and tells) Amelia what is coming for her. Her Grandfather isn’t dead, but has been banished to see her, until her 23rd birthday. There’s a reason for that. Something that Amelia has been trying very hard to forget. And with only measly seven days left, she will have to come to terms with that her entire life has been a made-up lie. In the end, who can she really trust?!
Amelia is a sweet person. She is not the first to cry foul, and it takes a lot before she loses faith in a person. She’s a bit naïve regarding her boyfriend.. Okay, okay, a LOT naïve. But that is part of her charm. On the other hand… I didn’t see the story behind her boyfriend coming. It hit me like a Mack truck straight in my face. It doesn’t excuse him in my eyes, but I understood a bit more about his actions.
Maurice Benedict – Amelia’s grandfather is… Oh boy. He reminds me of a historical person who did a hell lot of damage (when you read the story, you might agree). He’s brilliant in a way, but he sure uses it wrong. On all accounts. He’s the kind of person you really don’t want to meet… Not even in a brightly lit room during day time. With tons of people there too. But he sure has a way to trick people into doing his dirty work. His net isn’t small in any way. It spreads out and ensnares a whole lot more people than anticipated.
As I said… I was so not prepared for this story. Revealing Hamilton was twisted, mind-boggling, fascinating, action packed, emotional, grip your seat “what’s going to happen now”, tear inducing and absolutely freaking amazing to read. Just when I thought “Aaahh, now I get it” – Sarah (or her muse) laughs evilly and tosses something new into the mix, confusing you, claiming your attention and makes you want to rip your hair out. My nails have never been this short. Twist after twist, secret after secret, Revealing Hamilton will keep you glued. I loved every second of it, and I immediately bought Embracing Hamilton. I so do not want to miss anything!
BTW: Sarah, you owe me a couple of nights sleep. :-P

***Guest Review From Amy Conley For The Nerd Girl Page***

In the prequel "pRevealing Hamilton" we get a small taste of Amelia Hamilton's story. In such a short amount of time she has been through so much but it's not over yet prepare to be blown away with surprises and twisting plots with every page!

After losing her job at Ellie's Diner as a waitress Amelia returns home early and catches her boyfriend Connor and her best friend Kyra in bed together not waiting around for an explanation Amelia flees the home as fast as she can while she's aimlessly driving her truck "Red" as she calls it leaves her stranded on the side of the road during a bad snowstorm with her cell phone dead and no way to charge it up to make any calls she starts walking in search of shelter she happens upon a motel where she spends the night and oversleeps after being thrown out by the manager she meets a stranger named Max who claims to know everyhting about her and tells Amelia he use to work with her father Max invites Amelia back to his home where he promises they can talk and he'll tell her everything he knows. With nowhere to go and no one to turn to and wanting to know more about her father Amelia agrees to go with him. Max tells tells Amelia that her father worked for the same company Max belongs to the IA "Insurance Agency" after his death Amelia was left to her grandfather Marius's care who is basically an evil scientist he injected Amelia with something called JackRabbit7 and did different experiments on her. When the IA found out Amelia was immediately removed and placed in a foster home. The plot thickens and Amelia finds out Marius fakes his own death but he's back and he's after Amelia.. Max and the other IA agents have promised to keep her safe but things go really bad really fast she soon learns that not everyone and everything is what it appears to be and time is running out..

My Review:
Another amazing book from Sarah Jayne Carr she really knows how to deliver a story that will grab readers attention from the very first page and have them hooked until the ending. As the story builds and the plot thickens I found myself turning the pages faster and faster with anticipation ready to find out where the characters were taking me next! The author's writing style is so detailed and vivid it all felt surreal like it was happening to me and not just the characters too many times throughout the book there were scenes that really grabbed my attention and had me thinking "whoa could this really happen?" could you even imagine someone you thought you could trust injecting you with stuff to experiment and saying ok let's hope that it works...or realizing that everything you thought to be true in your life was based upon secrets and lies?? My heart breaks for Amelia going through what she did and having to relive the heart breaks over and over..
It's a thrilling read that will grip you to its core and give you chills all over. But it doesn't stop there so hang on tight because the ending is going to blow you away!

Although I found the story interesting and I felt bad for Amelia, I wasn't a fan either. As a matter of fact, I was on the fence with her. At times I truly sympathized with her situation and all of the crap she went through, but then having met the rest of the characters and getting their backgrounds, I felt that she DID need to stop with the woe is me attitude and take charge of her life.

Amelia is a 22 year old "orphan" who lost her parents when she was 3, and lived with her grandfather until he passed away when she was 5. Growing up in foster homes, and plagued by nightmares about needles and being injected in a basement as a child, she doesn't have any friends outside of Don, his sister Jenae, her best friend Kyra, and her live in boyfriend Connor. Her life is fairly uncomplicated even if her boyfriend is a total douche. At least until it all starts to unravel a week before her birthday. She loses her job, her car craps out on her, she finds her boyfriend in bed with her best friend and therefore homeless, and meets Max, a stranger, while contemplating the mess that is her life at a deserted lake in the middle of the night. Through Max, she'll learn that her past is not as straightforward as she thought, and that the grandfather who took her in when her parents "left", is not only alive, but truly a monster. As she slowly loses the only friends she has, she meets Nick, Molly, and eventually Dane who are all part of a secret group, a company called IA, who are hell bent on stopping her grandfather's experiments changing people's DNA. An experiment her grandfather started on her as child, and will ultimately complete on her 23rd birthday.

There are some really great twists to this book, and I probably would have liked it more if I could have really like some of the characters. Nick was too hard. And it isn't that I could not understand and slowly come to like him toward the end, but it took a while to get there. Molly was the only nice person throughout. Max was odd. I just wasn't sure what the heck to think of him given how he talked, acted toward Amelia and Nick, and his way of avoiding some of her questions. And Amelia, what more can I say about her? Her situation alone definitely made me feel for her, but her constant harping on "why me" just started to grate. Yes, she had it bad, but then so did Nick with the loss of his brother, his impending death at Amelia's hand, no other family, and his inability to touch another person without baring his past to them. He was angry, and resentful of her, but he still followed direction and looked at the bigger picture.

If you like suspenseful books, this is pretty good at delivering that. A contemporary thriller with a paranormal twist.

Twisted? Yes! Suspensefully Sinister? Hell Yes!! A Must Read!

I was gifted an e-ARC copy of this book by the author in exchange for an unbiased review. Thank You!

I suggest you read the Prequel to this book first -pRevealing Hamilton - it helped me to understand just how the main characters, Amelia, Donovan, Kyra, Connor, and Jenae are connected to one another and sets up the opening scene to this installment.

In Book 1, Revealing Hamilton, we look into the main character, Amelia's, background further. She has been through hell and is trying to come back into her own. Discovering that her world is not what she believed is where the journey of unanswered questions begin to unfold in this mysterious and emotional rollercoaster ride.

There are characters that I Love and then those characters I Detest! I just wanted to hurt them in such a way that they would understand that what they did and are doing is so wrong on so many levels. There were a couple of instances that I was left with my jaw dropped, thinking, No! They did not just do that!

The world is one of self-discovery, as well as, an original diabolically delicious sci-fi, psychological thriller with horrific, twisted mystery, spellbinding suspense, unbelivable betrayal, and has an intriguing intensity that kept me rivited to my seat everytime I got the opportunity to pick it back up. When I wasn't reading it, the scenes would play out in my head. I LOVE THAT IN A BOOK!!!

Very well written, easy to follow, yet has plenty of multi-layers and sinister undertones. It reads like a movie, with one hellacious and unique plot with picturesque substance. Well Done!

It is apparent that Miss Carr has put a lot of thought into her characters and world. I LOVE IT!!

Revealing Hamilton was a book I was unable to put down. From the beginning, I was able to relate with Amelia's thought process even though found myself trying to get her to do what I wanted - a sign, to me, that she is a memorable character that was well written. A chain of devastating betrayals eventually forces her to seek comfort in Max, a complete stranger who happens to have known the father that abandoned her as a child. Of course she's more than a little curious and does all she can to find out all she can about him.

Throughout the course of the story, we find Amelia in a race to stop put a stop to her grandfather, a man she thought was dead leaving her as an orphan. His meddling knows no bounds and Amelia must come to terms with a life he seems to have scripted for her.

With the help of Max, Molly and Nick, a man who's dealt with Amelia's grandfather in the past, she must race to put an end to her grandfather's influence. Unfortunately, he has bigger plans.

I absolutely loved this book and devoured it in one sitting. I've started reading Embracing Hamilton, the book that follows, and I am impressed with that book as well. Sarah Carr has a way with weaving a thriller full of twists and turns that leads up to an ending I didn't see coming. I highly recommend picking up this book.

It's an intriguing concept that's mostly well done. The lead character is likeable and engaging and reacts realistically to the fantastic world that's suddenly overtaken her previous life. There are a few bits that seem cliched until the appropriate twists are revealed and those payoffs are tremendous. However, there are some cliched bits that are just cliched. My biggest quibble was repetitiveness: while it's believable for a real life person to obsessively think the same things over again, particularly as they negotiate through a crisis, there was quite a bit of Amelia's internal monologue that should have been snipped out. (Once you've established that a character is scared, it's okay to assume that your audience will remember this, for a few pages at least!)

None of the book's flaws are fatal, however, and I definitely enjoyed reading it. Carr was able to keep the suspense taut throughout the book and although the ending is geared to set up the next book in the series, it's satisfying enough to keep readers from feeling like they've been abruptly cut off. I would've liked to learn a bit more about the shadowy organizations that play an important role in the story but am hopeful they will be revealed more as the series progresses.

A Real Page Turner

What a brilliant book. I couldn't put it down. First of all, I loved the author's writing style, seamlessly elegant descriptions which painted pictures in my mind. Second, I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, as depicted through the eyes of the characters; a story you not only read but feel. This is an author after my own heart!
The story itself is well scripted and presented, with many twists and turns. I admit to finding some concepts a little difficult to grasp, yet they made sense as I persevered. The book is part thriller with a scientific conspiracy in the background; a notion of secret societies, where you are never quite sure who you can trust. I liked the central character, Amelia, very much - she came across as very realistic and true to life; typical of a young adult who is flung into a sinister mystery she knows little about. This author captivated my interest, whilst guiding me through a complex story, which carefully unfurls piece by piece, leading to an earth shattering climax which left me stunned. It was an incredible twist - an ending I had to read over and over, leaving me hankering for the next episode.
This book was gifted to me for an honest review.

Revealing Hamilton by Sarah Jayne Carr

Amelia Hamilton has an average life. But, she hates her job, troubles occur in her love life, her best friend is not the friend she'd like her to be. Then a mysterious man shows up and changes her life forever.

Amelia knows her parents gave her up (to her grandfather) when she was young, then her grandfather was deemed "unfit" and she bounced from foster home to foster home. She is about to learn her family history and what she finds out is disturbing.

Her grandfather Marius is bad. He is using people as human guinea pigs, injecting them with a creation called jackrabbit7. She finds that on her 23rd birthday she will never be the same. What will happen on that day she is not certain, all feels is it won't be good.

A fast paced psychological thriller. I liked the suspense, the story is good. Amelia, I liked a lot. Well written, I got a feel of what Amelia was going through, and there were a lot of secrets, twists and turns that made me read way past my bed time. Lovers of suspense/thrillers/psychological drama will love Revealing Hamilton.

Thank you to the author since I received this book as a gift through the "Descendent" release party.

Holy cow, I absolutely loved this book.. actually finished it within a couple of hours! The plot was so unique and full of twists and turns that was meant to keep you guessing what was going to happen with every turn of the page.I loved how the book was a mixture of modern medicine and the supernatural, which was done quite expertly.

The only thing that kept me from rating this book as absolutely amazing was Amelia, the main character. I didn't hate her, not at all, but I really didn't fall in love with her either. She seemed to constantly play the victim, and a character can only "woe is me" so many times before they become annoying, especially when they are meant to be the hero. As well, with the vast number of sub plots, it was a little difficult to process everything with respect to the characters and the main plot.

Overall, a fantastic and interesting book with many well-developed characters and a hint of sarcastic bite (which I love). Bravo to the author for coming up with this wonderous world of superpowers, a lot of betrayal, and devestating secrets.

This is the first book I have read by Ms. Carr and she certainly writes a story that captivates you with the characters and the storyline. When we first meet Amelia she is down on her luck and more and more bad things keeps happening to her. She meets a stranger that helps her but he ends up being more than just a stranger.

Through out the whole story you don't know who Amelia should trust and who she should not. What she thinks were truths are lies and lies are truth. This story was non stop action, suspense, and mystery. Amelia's grandfather was an evil man and he is still trying to manipulate her life. M

Ms. Carr takes a story with some unbelievable things and make it real. There are points in the story that are so real you feel like you are in that setting. Twists and turns keep coming and the surprises never stop. The characters are a mixture and you will have feeling for each and every one of them. Can't wait to read the next books.

First and foremost, Sarah Jayne Carr is a talented writer. Something which captivated me from the very first page of this book. Why? Because she has a way of story telling that completely engrosses the reader and catapults you straight into the dynamics of the novel.
Intelligent, with vivid imagery, Carr takes you on a journey that is believable and real. Not once did I feel like I couldn't believe in the plot or Amelia's feelings. I could easily relate and connect to Amelia, whose character development throughout the book remained consistent. I wanted to cry when she cried, I felt hurt when she was hurt and above all else, I felt complete empathy for her. All these emotions tell me that the book delivered exactly what it was meant to do.

What intrigued me the most was how real the bad intentions were. Carr reveals just how horrid humans can be, and for that alone I applaud this book. If you want a book with interesting plot lines, a story that evokes your deepest emotions, then REVEALING HAMILTON is a sure fire start to what looks to be a promising and engaging series.

I really enjoyed this book. The writing is strong and there were very few copyediting things (most of them were punctuation, so I didn't mark any in my copy).

The pacing is excellent, the plot is sound, the characters are realistic. I particularly liked that the things people do in this story are all understandable, even if they aren't exactly things we would agree with. Their motivations are generally clear, and everyone is well-drawn.

The twist at the end I wasn't fully expecting, so that was really nice, too. I like being surprised!

Also good: no sex scenes whatsoever, lots of action, and no gratuitous violence (by which I mean, all of the violence was necessary to the plot and wasn't over-described; this is not a gory book at all).

I will definitely be reading more in this series. I hope the author is able to keep it up!

(Also, I really enjoyed the bonus material at the end. So refreshing to have it NOT be teasers for the next book!)

LOVED this book!
Didn't like it....LOVED it.
This is the first book in a long time that I feel comfortable giving a five star rating even with typos..
Normally I can see the end of a book from the beginning... not so with this book. Every twist I saw coming was expanded upon or I couldn't make a confident prediction due to the knowledge not being divulged all at once..
Some of the things the main character could not foresee, if put in the same position I could not realistically say that I would see it coming myself.Answers to questions were revealed while I was yet asking them or a character would ask the same question and I'd know I was on the right track.
For the first time in a long time a book made me feel like I was given intelligence for a reason. It challenged instead of spoon-fed me. And I never saw the ending coming.
I can't wait to read the others.

I was given this book by the author to review, so here are couple things about it.

It was a great read. It was interesting how the author combined modern medicine with imaginary abilities superheroes usually have. It pretty much shows what things could have been if there weren’t the Hippocratic Oath and medical laws. I loved how she didn’t spared the readers feelings, meaning there are many sad moments during the end that break your heart. Generally, through out the story, the characters hardly have a break. The things are going though are many and it’s incredible how Amelia don’t break down or become annoying.

Seriously, I loved it. It was way different from everything I’ve read in the past. I can’t wait to read the second too.

This review was completed by Amanda Harbin, guest reviewer with the Fantasy Book Addict.

Revealing Hamilton by debut author Sarah Carr is the first book in a series about a young woman facing the knowledge that her maniacal grandfather has altered her DNA. First I have to say that I had trouble putting this book down, the characters were well written and relatable. I definitely found myself wondering about what was happening in their world as I went about my day. The settings were well written and as a reader I felt like I was right there with Amelia.

Amelia has lived her life thinking her parents abandoned her to her evil grandfather. When her Grandfather dies she spends the rest of her growing up in various foster homes. She has a two dear friends but most of the other kids bully her. She tries to bury her past and live only for the present. All that changes just shy of her 23rd birthday. She catches her abusive boyfriend with her best girlfriend and runs off. Later she meets a man who says he knew her father and the stage is set. So many twists and turns that you are on edge till the end! WOW! I was very impressed with the writing style of this book and the smooth transitions! Can't wait to find out what happens next!

A great novel! And I'll whole heartedly suggest buying it. And this is why you should!

It is obvious that Carr has been influenced by a lot of great films and such, but to class this as science fiction, would be silly. It is more than that. It's thriller!

With many believable characters (my personal favourites are Amelia and Nick, and a part of me hopes that the sequel will show a bit of romance), Carr takes us on a whirlwind ride around Washington, showing us the nastier side of the human psyche and the lengths people go for to protect what they love. With a plot like a roller coaster, you'll be hungry for more of the JackRabbit7 series. I know I am!

Revealing Hamilton was a thoroughly enjoyable and fascinating read.
The array of characters were well crafted and had unique personality quirks, which made following their stories easy and entertaining.

Revealing Hamilton offered a real mixed bag. I appreciated the humour especially; it was tied in well with the mysterious aspect of this book. I was a little frustrated by the ending, but not so much that it made me rethink the level of entertainment this book offered me.

A solid good read.
