Do you know what a lemur is? Author Sarah E. Sauer is a childhood brain cancer survivor and has overcome many obstacles. She is also an animal lover and an avid photographer. Her love of animals was something from which she drew strength throughout her illness. In her first children’s book, a truly lovely work, she shares her love and respect for wild animals through the photos which she took for her high school digital photography class.

In nineteen bright and colorful photos, some of familiar creatures like an elephant and a giraffe and others of animals not so well-known like the lemur and the red panda, with captions for each one, Sarah engages young readers and invites them not only to see just an animal but also to look at the beauty of each creature in detail. By the way, a lemur is a primitive primate with a ringed tail from the island of Madagascar. Sarah is currently studying early childhood education and hopes to share her love and knowledge of animals to promote and develop an appreciation of wildlife in young children. She lives in southern Indiana with her family and her horses, llamas, donkey, cats, and dogs.
