I normally don't read stuff like this, but I liked the emphasis on spiritual preparation and didn't focus in doom and gloom. The authors stuck to reliable sources.
I like that this book is a series of topic from different authors and that it is not about panic or sensationalizing. I am skipping around and not reading it in order. I really enjoyed pondering the state of the 1,000 years when Christ will rein on the earth. It has been fun to be reading while in the Book of Mormon I am studying Alma 30. There is so much that can be learned from the history of mankind and the choice as societies they made as well as individuals. About once a year I like to read books on the last days. I do not believe in being all obsessed about it or fanatical but I do find comfort in the knowledge of the signs around me and my testimony is strengthened from the study of gospel topics.
This is a series of essays written in the early '90s that focus on the second coming of Jesus from a variety of angles. And no, none of these writers have the necessary hubris to predict the day and hour on which Jesus appears again.
This is not wild speculation written by unknowns or uninformed people. It is carefully scriptural, and if you run your own numbers, so to speak, and look up the references they include, you won't find material taken out of context to fit a narrative. This looks at the second coming of Jesus from the perspective of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It is not an official church publication.
Liked this, and especially liked the detailed discussions of SPIRITUAL preparedness, versus just scare tactics to buy more food storage. :-) Not that I have ANY problems with food storage--LOVE it--I just think there's a lot more to preparedness in the last days than potato pearls. :-)
This book is a feast of prompts and warnings for everyone. As we go through life we need to be preparing for the Lord's Second Coming and Elder Lund has compiled an excellent selection of talks to get all readers pointed in the right direction.
I really enjoyed this book. A lot of information tht I had not heard before. Lots of quotes from modern day prophets. I liked that it was not permeated with fear. Very informative and enjoyable.
