I cannot understand why this book is not required reading for parents. Well, maybe I can understand that parents do not think about the long term consequences of the everyday, small, even trivial child rearing decisions they make. However, these incidental learning moments make up our children's personalities, expectations, and view of the world. Kudos to Catherine Sanderson for having the courage to write a book about problems of short-term fixes proposed so often by popular child rearing "experts" who, in my humble opinion, frequently give "parent pleasing" advice rather than sound child-centered advice.
