I remember reading two or three of Woodhouse's books when they appeared and really liking them. They were thrillers with scientific explanatory underpinnings. Not science fiction. Not straight out adventures. Maybe more the early prototype for MacGyver. The only factoids I recall from these are that diesel engines, because they require only compression to ignite the fuel and not a spark, can be started underwater (a key getaway plot point in one book) and that Woodhouse himself before trying his hand at writing invented one of Britain's first analog computers. I should try these again to see if they hold up.
