Sage Michaelson has more problems than he knows what to do with. First of all, he's attempting to recover from having his spleen removed, and then there is the promise he made to his best friend Steve at his wedding, to watch over his sister, Delaney. As a Deputy U.S. Marshall, its Sage's job to notice the details about people and while he attempts to concentrate on that aspect of his job, his heart has its own priorities. He's trying to keep his feelings in check for Delaney.
Growing up with her in the orphanage has made her feel more like family than anything else, but these strong feelings he has for her now go much deeper than just a family bond. Even though he has grown up thinking of Delaney as a sister, now that the years apart have matured them both on completely different levels. However no matter how hard he tries to keep his feelings separated, he finds himself falling for her. Yet, how can he protect her if he can't protect his heart?
When he discovers that someone is out to harm Delaney, first breaking into her home and threatening her, almost kidnapping her at knife point at her brother's wedding, the threats on her life keep escalating. Now if he can only heal from his own physical injuries long enough to protect her and find the person(s) responsible there may be hope yet for them.
Delaney Hunt has had a childhood crush on Sage forever and now that he is back in Journey, restoring his parents home and possibly considering a permanent move here, Delaney wonders how she can keep her feelings in check. She feels that once he fulfills her brothers request to protect her, that Sage will move away again. She can't possibly let him know how she really feels and then wind up like her mother. She has made a vow to God that she will keep herself pure until the day she marries her husband. One that she is finding harder to keep with Sage being with her all the time. Does God have plans for them other than the ones she has been dreaming of?
In the latest novel, Journey's Embrace by Dora Hiers, we are immediately drawn into both a romance novel as well as a suspense story. Sage and Delaney have grown up together and feel more like family than anything else. But time has a way of changing people and for Sage and Delaney, they are no different. With enough time between them, they have both matured and now see one another through different eyes. Sage is still dealing with his past being the only survivor when his family was tragically killed in a car accident. Delaney has her own past to deal with. She is doing everything possible to not wind up like her mother who put drugs as her first priority and being a single mother. Not being able to deal with raising a child on her own, she gave her up for adoption and its where she first met Sage. Can they both work through their difficult pasts to find a real future together?
I received Journey's Embrace by Dora Hiers compliments of the author for my honest review. I received no monetary compensation for a favorable review. I loved this story. I think it's one we can all relate to on some level. We all have things in our past we are not proud of and it's only through the grace of God that we can move forward into a new future, leaving those mistakes behind us. This is the third book in her Marshall's series with the first being Journey's End and then Journey's Edge. Even though this is part of a series, like me, you can read this one as a stand alone and still appreciate the story. Yet once you've read this one, you'll want to go back and capture the romance that began in Journey one step at a time! I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars and it really appealed to the romance/suspense lover in me!
Journey's Embrace is the third book in the series by Dora Hiers set in the fictional town of Journey Creek, North Carolina. Like the previous books in the series, it's not one to miss.
Even though he should remain hospitalized, Sage Michaelson answers the call from his friend Steven to watch over little sister Delaney while he's on his honeymoon. Delaney's recent experience with a man who broke into her home has Steven worried. Her subsequent experience at the wedding worries Sage.
Delaney is no longer "The Great Dane" of Sage's early years. She's grown into a lovely, young and headstrong woman scared her feelings for Sage will show. After all, he makes it clear he still thinks of her as a sister.
Over the years, Sage has lost those closest to him. While he guards Delaney from a physical threat, he finds it harder to guard his heart from the risk of losing someone else. In the meantime, her mysterious enemy is bent on seeing to it that exact thing happens.
As writers, we're told to discover what our characters fear most and turn up the heat by using that fear. Ms. Hiers does a good job of using Sage's fear against him.
The banter between the characters makes the novel a fun read. At the same time, the romance sizzles and the threat of danger satisfies. So if you plan to spend a few hours with an entertaining romantic suspense, with the emphasis on romantic, curl up in a comfortable chair and open Journey's Embrace.

Journey's Embrace by Dora Hiers was a page turner of suspence, mystery, and romance. We start off with an injured Sage Michaelson who was hurt in the line of duty as a U.S. Deputy Marshal. His best friend has asked him to keep an eye on his kid sister Delaney, while he is off on his honeymoon. Delaney Hunt, a flight medic and strong supporter of the orphanage where she grew up, had been recently attacked in her home by an unknown assailant. While going to meet her at her brother's wedding, Sage witnesses Delaney being forcibly taken onto the elevator. After he saves her, or she saves him (that is up for debate between the two of them), Sage begins his job as protector. However, Delaney has changed since she was the pesky little sister that always hung out with him and her brother. At first he sees her outward appearance, but then gradually begins to fall in love with the caring, strong, determined woman she is on the inside. Delaney, on the other hand, has always loved Sage and finds it diffcult to keep her feelings in check with him being around so often. This was an action filled story with Sage and Delaney fighting each other, themselves, and whoever wanted to see Delaney stopped and or dead. I received this book from The Book Club Network, Inc. and the opinions are my own.
An exciting new voice in romantic suspense, Hiers immediately draws you into the story of two grown-up orphans. Delaney Hunt (and her brother, Steven) and Sage Michaelson have grown up together in "Quiver Full," an orphanage Delaney is now on a mission to save. Sage has returned to town in a "'vacation" to recuperate from a major operation. Both are fighting emotional scars from the past that keep them from being willing to take the chance on love. Someone is out to stop Delaney from putting on the fundraiser for Quiver Full, and there are many threats that keep Sage and Delaney busy trying to find who is behind the ever-encroaching danger.
Hiers emphasizes trust in the Lord that can overcome crippling fears, and includes Bible verses for the characters to rely upon in their hour of need. Very appropriately and tastefully done. It was good to see a solid faith and a faith restored. A few editing errors caught my eye... a car's "breaks" and hair that "shown." Also, I would have liked for an explanation as to why one character was not who he was built up to be. He felt like a loose end at the story's end. I enjoyed this book and its quickly moving action mixed with faith and romance. I received this book from Bookfun.org in exchange for an honest review.
Dora Hiers is a new author for me with a great writing talent. I look forward to reading more of her books. I love books that include romance and suspense. This one did not disappoint me. An exciting story with a great and dramatic ending. A story of strong friendships, love, romance, danger, suspense and that trusting in God can overcome all fears. I also like that scripture has been included. Delaney Hunt, her brother Steven and Sage Michaelson grew up in an orphanage and became best friends and Sage considers himself a brother to both Delaney and Steven. Sage a deputy US Marshal has been wounded and returns home for a vacation while he recovers. Steven who is to leave on his honeymoon, asks Sage to protect his sister Delaney while he is gone. Sage finds that Delaney has been threatened and attacked and vows to protect her with his life, While protecting her he realizes that he no longer sees Delaney as a little sister but something more. Who is threatening Delaney and Why. How will the feelings and relationship between Delaney and Sage change?
I recommend this book.
I received this book from bookfun.org for my honest opinion and review.
I loved this book so much I checked if my local library had the other two books in Ebooks. No such luck. Sadly, they did not have them in paperback available either. It is an intense suspense novel, but also a beautiful romance. Drama, and conflict. Hidden baggage. Someone with an agenda. All melded together with vivid imagery, and emotion. I always like to read about how a friend's sibling has matured in the years since the hero or heroine have seen them, and the way things such as feelings and perceptions change between them because of this. Dora has done a good job with this, as well as with the rest of her story. This is the third book in the collection, and since I have not read the other two, I can not say whether this one would have been enhanced by the reading of the other two or not.
I received this book free from Fred at The Book Club Network, the author Dora Hiers and her publisher Pelicanbookgroup in exchange for an honest review. A positive critique was not required. The opinions are my own,
Can two people who have grown up together in an orphanage more like brother and sister discover that their feeling for one another are not all that "brotherly" but much deeper. Sage, a US Marshal, is asked by his best friend to watch over his little sister while he is out of town. However, Delaney has grown up into a beautiful woman in the few years since Sage last saw her. Can he keep her out of danger yet drop his guard on his heart. Can Delaney trust Sage with her heart and allow him to keep her from harm? Can they both trust God with their lives and realize that their past does not have to dictate their future. This story has danger, surprise, suspense, and just enough romance to be a great novel. You will not want to put it down.
I received this book from bookfun.org in return for my honest opinion.
Journey’s Embrace is a fast and exciting read with non-stop action and building romance. I love that the primary characters are life-long friends and have a wonderful history together. That in itself adds much depth to the story. Sage and Delaney are great characters. Both are easy to love. It is a very rocky ride to “happily ever after,” but the end is rewarding.
I especially like the spiritual themes and how they are woven into the storyline. It is always gratifying to see spiritual growth in favorite characters, so it’s heart-warming to see that happening in this story.
If you like fast-pace suspense with a heavy dose of romance, Journey’s Embrace would be a good choice.
Gripping suspense flows through the story from the very first chapter! Having grown up as friends, Delaney and Sage find it hard to get past that and realize it has blossomed into more. Delaney is in trouble from an unknown danger and her brother asked Sage to protect her while he is gone. You have the stubborn, independent heroine butting heads with the protective, childhood friend hero. Page turning drama and danger mixed with falling in love makes this a must read. I loved the characters, their banter with each other, and finding that God can sustain you through it all! I received this book from bookfun.org for an honest review.
I had the privilege of reading Journey’s Embrace by Dora Hiers. This book delivered what it promised. From the first few chapters, there was suspense, hint of romance, and mystery. Anyone who enjoys books with danger and twists and turns would definitely enjoy reading Journey’s Embrace. I have quite a few people in my circle of friends I will be recommending this book too who enjoy books with mystery and adventure. I saw there were two more books before Journey’s Embrace in the series - I will be recommending those as well.
I received this book for free from BookClubNetwork in exchange for my honest review.
Journey's Embrace is a great read. Dora Hiers is a new author for me but she has been added to my ever growing list of authors to follow. The book is suspenseful but also has romance in it. It shows that leaning on God will get you through anything. It revolves around a brother who asks a friend to watch out for his sister, while he is out of town. The sister is in danger. The friend and sister are also friends. I recommend the book for young adult or older. I recieved this book from bookfun.org for my honest review.
This was a wonderful read about suspense, romance and finding God!
Delaney and Sage grew up together in an orphanage. Sage moves away.
Later in life, Delaney's brother asks Sage to protect Delaney from someone bent on injuring her.
Delaney and Sage find themselves in close contact with each other. Delaney is falling for Sage, but des Sage just see her as a childhood friend - or can it be more? Will Sage find God and learn to lean on Him like she does?

I love a story where the guy realizes that the girl of his dreams has always been standing in front of him. Love the suspense in this story because I think it added spice to the romance and it does not disappoint. Delaney and Sage are great characters and I love seeing them interact with each and seeing their relationship blossom throughout the story.
I received a free copy of this book courtesy of The Book Club Network for my honest review.
Mystery and Romance – my perfect combination! Someone is trying to kill Sage. Delaney is her white knight protecting her. They fight, they take care of each other, all while trying to stay safe. The mystery is good, the romance is good, what else do you need?
I received this book for review purposes from The Book Club Network, Inc. for my honest opinion
Ryker and Danea along with her brother, Steve, were raised together in an orphanage. Ryker and Steve were best friends and Danea had a major crush on Ryker.
Ryker is now a U.S. Marshall and has returned to his hometown to attend Steve's wedding. He has not seen Danea for years and was shocked to see that she has grown into beautiful woman. As Steve is getting ready to go on his honeymoon, he asked Ryker to keep an eye on Danea as she had broken into her home.
Lots of twists and turns along with some surprises. Enjoyable read.
The perfect blend of suspense and romance, Journey’s Embrace was a fast paced story filled with intrigue and mystery. I admired Sage and his desire to protect his childhood friend, Delaney. The chemistry between Sage and Delaney explodes off the pages, and the mystery of who wanted to harm Delaney, kept me turning the page well into the night. This is a must read for those who enjoy inspirational fiction. I was given a copy of the book by the author and chose to review it voluntarily.
Deputy Sage gets a request to go to Montana and watch his friend sister while he is recuperating. They use to call her colt, with her long legs.also called Delaney or Dane was in some kind of trouble. They grew up together, for her it was a love for him, she loves risks, for him, it is control. Two opposites, though drawn to one another. Nice romance of time changing how they look at one another.
Sadly the third and final book in this series. I have thoroughly enjoyed Dora Hiers books on the men of the U. S. Marshal’s service. It is a good thing that Ryker’s “best friend” is a flight medic because she had her hands full patching him back up. The characters, action, mystery and romance come through loud and clear but also there is the delightful message of faith given that totally completes these books. I will miss these old friends.
This book starts out fast and keeps going. It has the suspense and danger as well as romance. Ryker, Danae and her brother had been best friends from the time they met in an orphanage. Danae was the little sister that always tagged along. When her life is threatened Stephen calls on Ryker to watch over his sister while he is away on his honeymoon. Will Ryker be able to save her from the one threatening her?
I really enjoyed all the books in this series. I loved all the Characters and the story lines. Dora Hires is one of the best authors I’ve had the pleasure of following. Thank you Dora. Keep up the good work!
This is a very interesting and suspenseful story. I enjoyed reading about Ryker and Danea. They had a lot to overcome. It is a very inspiring and heartwarming story.
A Marshal's Embrace (Marshals with Heart Book 3) by Dora Hiers (Goodreads Author), Tori Kayson (Goodreads Author) Clean romance with suspense and mystery added in. I really enjoyed the book and finished it in one day. I was surprised at the ending. I really liked the characters they were well written, as was the story line.
I received the book as an advance reader copy, through Goodreads.com in the kindle format, my thoughts and comments are my own freely given.
