Student Fun and a Mammoth Discussion: Discussion of Such Topics as Scams, Rumours, Arguments and the Main Causes of Car Accidents, and Fun at University
Child genius Becky Bexley entices a group of her fellow university students to play a rowdy game in class for fun one day that has worried tutors coming to investigate what's going on. On another day, she and a group of other students have a long long discussion where they talk about such things as world leaders taking foolish risks, false rumours, and interviews with transsexuals, and they tell stories about scams and broken friendships. The discussion often becomes humorous though, as they tell each other funny news stories, make up jokes, and think up wacky ideas for fun.
Review for 'Student Fun And A Mammoth Discussion' by Diana Holborn.
Read and reviewed paperback for Diana Holbourn, Windy Seaside Publishing, Netgalley amd Literally PR.
Publication date: 31st July 2023.
This is the second book I have read by this author but won't be my last!! It is also the third book in the 'Becky Bexley the Child Genius' series but can be read as a standalone. I have previously read the first book in this series 'Trying To Make The World A Better Place' which I would also recommend.
This is a lovely and light read that covers a fantastic range of topics, many that are sensitive but that are very important to speak about too!! Diana has written it in a perfect way so the reader isn't overwhelmed with too much information at once and has broken it down into smaller sections so it can be read in small chunks. Although there are only 2 main chapters there are loads of mini chapters between with headings stating what the students are talking about during it.Although the book has serious topics Diana weaves them in between fun moments which is perfect as it stops it from being too "heavy" and serious a read while still conveying the importance of kindness and supporting others. I will admit that the way some of the students spoke and the subjects were definitely not ways I believe university students would speak in and about but it was still a fun book. During a ten hour lunch break they discuss a variety of topics including, but not limited to, drugs, death, food, driving, war, random and disgusting items in food such as eyes and worms, crime, radiation poisoning, scams, judging people and much much more!!! Some of the topics I found intriguing, some disgusting, some fun, some boring and some definitely random!!! There are discussions for everyone but I would definitely say avoid eating while reading this book!!! There are moments of gloominess between the students depending on the topics but it doesn't take long for them to lighten the subject up and get back to laughing and joking. It is definitely unlikeable other books I have read and I'm looking forward to reading both book 2 called 'Good And Bad Times At University' and book 4 called 'Comedy, Alcohol, Trauma and Games' so keep your eyes peeled for my review of those books coming soon!! Some of my favorite topics discussed were about scammers and the fun had in the psychology department. If your looking for a light hearted read then it's definitely worth grabbing a copy today!!! A very cleverly constructed and well researched book that would have been amazing to have around while I was younger. I am definitely looking forward to reading more books in this fantastic series!!!

Since I very started reading the Becky Bexley series, by the talented Diana Holbourn, she has become one of my favourite authors, as I never enjoyed a series so much as Becky Bexley.
Although this book is aimed at middle grade for 13-18, I absolutely adore reading the Becky Bexley series.
In, this funny novel, Student Fun and a Mammoth Discussion, Becky and her friends often had long discussions, on all types of different subjects. One discussion was about false rumours, when Becky Bexley, said she heard a rumour that one of the tutors were leaving, but Becky admitted she didn’t hear the whole conversation.
Becky Bexley is a child genius at university, made friends, even though there were an age gap of eight years between her and other students on her psychology and media studies course.
My favourite chapter was when Becky Investigates Some Disruptive Fun In the Psychology Department. I absolutely loved drama at school and wanted to become a drama teacher. So I loved the idea when Becky and the other students act out a scene during boredom waiting for their tutor.
Student Fun and a Mammoth Discussion, is extremely hilarious. I can’t wait to find out what Becky Bexley will get up to next.

I'm officially a Becky Bexley superfan! I've just finished the final book in the series, and it was an amazing journey.
Author Diana Holbourn manages to combine serious topics, advice, and interesting facts with a lighthearted humour that will make readers laugh out loud even while they're learning some pretty important stuff.
Young people often find it hard to take advice from their elders, or even seek help at all! By reading this book, they will be able to receive therapy techniques and learn valuable information that will positively impact their lives. The series offers this guidance in the form of engaging stories, which address many of the challenges young people face as they grow up. And, these lessons are still relevant as we mature into adulthood, too! I learned a lot of beneficial tips from reading it.
I think Holbourn is a genius, just like Becky! She has definitely made the world a better place by writing these books.
This is book three in the Becky Bexley series. I believe each book can be read as standalones but it’s been fun to read them in order and see how the MC grows and changes. As we all now know to expect from author Diana Holbourn, the book is both entertaining and packed with information about going to university, that first year, mental health and so much more. Diana is on a mission to help empower young people to feel more supported through her writing. Becky is a hugely intelligent young girl living in an adult world – her age, intelligence and wisdom combine to make her a very unusual university student. The author blends therapy, psychology, and self-help techniques into the story effortlessly.
The 3rd in the series where we are following Becky Beckley. I love how this book is aimed at younger ages but I feel all ages would benefit from reading Beckys Adventures. They all have a humorous aspect and often have long discussion on important subjects. Within this book we follow Becky as she discuss cultural and misunderstanding which at times made me laugh out loud. Also dissuion of money take place I loved The Topic of Conversation Turns to Good and Bad Ways of Handling Money. A must read and I will be keeping these for my future teacher classroom.
This is the third in the Becky Bexley Child Genius series offering up a plethora of discussions, ideas on how to break the ice and make new friends. It pretty much encapsulates everything student and the hurdles they may face whilst at university and offers up helpful advice and tips on how to manage in these situations.
Well resourced and cleverly written into a novel like format making it fun for your child to navigate through the book.
Yet another fabulous book in the Becky Bexley child genius series. With classmates ice breaker games, discussions and stories retold among the students. Great topics highlighted again, written with plenty of humor and of course the seriousness too. I love this series and am looking forward to book 4.
