A Selfless Life is set in the small town of Minser just outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We are introduced to Isabelle Grant (Belle), our female lead, who was hired as the human resources director at one of the local fire departments in Minser. Many unfortunate events have taken place in her life thus far, most of which were out of her control. She is faced with tragedy, heartbreak, and deception and learns of secrets held by family members for decades, secrets that should never have been revealed. We also meet Cory Richards, our main male lead, who unexpectedly becomes the hero of the events that occur in and around Belle's life. We learn from other characters what it is to live a selfless life, and we find out how one will go to any extent to prove that for the ones we love. These secrets are revealed over time, past relationships resurface, and deception is something that is unavoidable. Belle and Cory are faced with obstacles, hard decisions, and heartache around every turn. What will become of the beautiful Belle, and what does the future hold for her?
It’s a lot easier to write a book than to write about yourself, but here goes. I was born and raised in Delaware County. I have lived in Aston for the past forty years, being the fourth generation to live in my home. Emergency Services runs deep in my roots, which was the inspiration behind A Selfless Life. I wanted to show the world that we are all human, we make mistakes, and we have hard lessons to learn in our lives, but it’s how we grow from those that show us what it means to live a selfless life.
Literally, the last 20 pages were the only part worth reading. This book is 3rd person but randomly gives first person thoughts/commentary, and it is utterly random. I have no idea who was thinking what half the time. There is a ton of useless information, like why bring up John Lennon? I literally skipped past a ton of wasted space in this book. It was also way too much telling. There was nothing activity happening until the end. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 simply because of the last 20 pages. Clearly, this idea was great but so poorly executed. The authors publisher really should have helped fully develop this before publishing it because I'd love to have read a complete finished version with the entire book written more like the ending.
Has everything you could ever want plus some. Relatable characters, real life situations and of course romance. It's impossible to not fall in love with the characters
I enjoyed reading A Selfless Life by Kit Spayd. I would recommend it to anyone who likes romance novels with a touch of mystery and drama. It’s a perfect beach read. It is a story that shows how love can overcome any obstacle, and how living a selfless life can bring happiness and fulfillment. The author did a great job of creating realistic and likable characters that I cared about. It kept my attention until the end. I’m looking forward to the next book to see the relationship between Belle and Cory transpire and evolve.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it and cannot wait to read more from this amazing and talented author.
I liked that it was a good clean read and that as soon as I started reading the book I didn’t want to put it down! I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good quick read. I seriously started the book on Tuesday morning and couldn’t it it down. Now I am ready for the next book!! Kit did a fantastic job and I look forward to reading more of her books.
This book was a beautiful love story with engaging characters that make you root for them. Just when you think you know what is going on there are twists and turns you don't see coming! By the end you are just wanting more of this story to find out what is next!
