There's so many version about ramayana. However, this one is a very simple version of it. This story is more focused on the process to bring back Shinta who is kidnapped by Rawana. The writer also tells about the dalang. One of the unique feature in this book that can gain my knowledge about wayang.

I believe there should be more impact in the great battle, especially when Rawana died and may be after the great battle when Alengka has been defeated. The tense just feels so flat. And they should add more details. 9 hours of a show witten in a tiny book, great chance to cut the details. And i feel kind of disappointed knowing there's no detailed story Trijata. Ramayana is a great story, but it depends on how the storyteller tells it to the audiences.

Not exactly the most expounding version of the Ramayana. However it was very interesting to read it while envisioning it being preformed as a shadow puppet play. Probably the most interesting bit was the description of the puppeteers duties.

I liked reading all the Indonesian names & words. I didn't like the "happy ever after" ending.
