One Dead Devil: A Cozy Paranormal Mystery

Rate this book
Psychic to the stars, Gracie Dare's life is falling apart when she inherits a small publishing company in Mirror Falls, Maine, and must contend with a grumpy (but hot) editor who has made it his mission to debunk psychics.

Publishing books on arcane knowledge wasn't how I imagined spending my newly-single mid-thirties either, but Gideon Tate seems hellbent on making me turn tail and run back to Los Angeles. He wants to force me out so he can publish how-to manuals that solve real-world problems. Even though he can't solve his own real-world problem of how to get his fiancee to live in the same town as him.

There is something my smoking hot editor doesn't know about me. I'm psychic. His job? To debunk psychics, and he's very, very good at it. So when one of our authors turns up dead, I know it's murder - mainly because the newly deceased won't stop talking about it. How am I going to convince the deeply skeptical Gideon Tate of that? I said I was psychic - not a miracle worker.

Great Reality Check Murder and Life Check Story!
Nothing wrong with a lady proposing to her man after 9 years of a relationship, ... right?... Like him saying that he was breaking up with her on that night wasn't horrible enough.... it was recorded in the restaurant, then put online... not stopping there, NO... she then loses all of her clients that are the high society that have her do readings, they went away too... Gracie Dare does not know what to do!
The Good News?... Her uncle died that she did not know about, and left her as the new owner of his printing company.
Meeting Gideon Tate, who met her as quite a tart personality, ends up being a good person for Gracie to 'move on' into her next phase of her life.
Thank you, Nadine Doolittle for another Great Story!

One Dead Devil is a treasure! Friendly, adorable, and approachable – like a large puppy that doesn’t know his size.

Gracie Dare was a celebrity psychic, but an unfortunate viral video has her in a tailspin. She’s lost confidence in herself and like us all is struggling with where to go from here. Unexpectedly, an estranged great-uncle names her in his will, and she curious about the business opportunity and the New England town. Mirror Falls is a place to start to rebuild her self-image, her confidence, and her life path. When I read inheritance, I immediately hoped for the campy comedy of “Clue” or “Glass Onion,” but instead the book was more “Murder She Wrote” or “Scooby Doo.”

The connection between the main characters was amazing. Both the “believer” and “skeptic” challenged each other at every turn, mentally and emotionally. Gracie and Gideon were respectful of each other’s opinions, minds, and feelings. It’s a grown-up “office” courtship, and there’s a curiosity about where it’s really going. I think it’s a winning relationship and fantastic to read.

[PS. I bought the next novel and read it right after. *Adorbs!* But I may have mixed a bit of plot together. Recommend both, but must be read in order.]
