In the heart of the majestic Oregon wilderness, danger lurks in the shadows, and an encounter between two souls will ignite a bond that defies all odds.
Ember Anderson, a dedicated rehab specialist, finds herself at the center of an inferno raging through the dense forests, intent on saving any hapless critters she can find. When Davi Cruz stumbles upon Ember, the connection between them is instantaneous and undeniable. Unbeknownst to Ember, Davi has been guarding the forest creatures, even as he works for the logging company that should be at odds with keeping the land pristine.
But danger lurks within the flames. Poachers, driven by greed, see the chaos of the wildfire as an opportunity to exploit the vulnerable wildlife. Together, Ember and Davi must join forces to outwit their adversaries and protect the animals they both hold dear... as well as themselves.
As the battle against the flames intensifies and the poachers close in, Ember begins to unravel the enigma that is Davi. Through heart-stopping encounters and breathtaking transformations, they discover a love that transcends boundaries and challenges everything they thought they knew.
I'm Mandi. All my life I told everyone that I would be a writer...I just didn't know what I was going to write about. Naturally, they told me to chase my dreams but didn't expect much. Well, here I am...31 years old and a writer. It took a lot for me to get where I am, but I don't regret any of it!
In addition to writing, I run an online store at mandismuses.net, a roleplaying website, and have just passed the criteria to achieve my 3rd Degree Wiccan Priestess certificate. Currently working on several romance book ideas at once... if only I could get them to sort themselves out. I don't know what is on the horizon for me, but you can bet I'll be embracing it with open arms!
**Official Bio**
Mandi resides in Ohio, where she shares her workspace with an ornery bassle pup. She's an avid reader and blogger, who adores music. Whenever there is a concert in town, you can bet she's taking the night off and cheering on her favorite bands. She can easily be bribed with peanut butter M&Ms, gemstones, hot lead singers, and gargoyles. :)
Chasing Ember is an awesome story of a couple that finds out that they are fated mates. While the have some rocky roads to cross they do it together. This is a new to me author and I am very pleased with the story that she has laid out before us. I will definitely be looking for other books by this author.
It was fine, but not for me so I won't be picking up any more from the series. If you enjoyed it then I'm happy for you and hope you continue to enjoy the series!
It was a lot of telling and not as much showing. Some grammatical errors - for example, page 23 says "for all intents and purposely". He also speaks perfect English after growing up and living his life in a poor, forest town in Bolivia.
I thought the plot point of her selling off her veterinary business and home to go live basically off the grid in the woods and run an illegal animal sanctuary wasn't the best. She did it because she hated the bureaucracy of both the vet clinic and all the regulations to run a wildlife sanctuary. This means she can't fundraise and is always thinking about what to do if she gets caught. And her lack of safety measures is absolutely ridiculous.
He is able to open his cage with a nail while shifted? Why not just shift and open it with your hand. And he didn't have to "sneakily" move his kibbles to the other animals, she was asleep. Though now they're going to be over fed when she comes through to do her morning rounds.
He spends all this time talking about never having met another shifter and knowing nothing about it, but yet he knows shifter fighting/trading rings are not unheard of? By who, exactly?
I think it was overall a good read, but there is a bit too much detail. I wish the beginning had been weaved into the story better rather than just spelling it all out. I also didn't like the way they moved quickly from getting to know each other to more; I don't feel like there was enough build-up for that jump. Still, it's a good read, and I'd be interested to read more from this author.
