Of all the rooms in the house, it is the bathroom, along with the kitchen, that is the most likely candidate for renovation. Following the success of House Beautiful Kitchens, here is a book that will inspire readers with an amazing variety of exciting possibilities. House Beautiful Bathrooms covers a wide spectrum of styles and tastes, materials and fixtures, from Early American to Modern Minimalist, from old-fashioned claw-foot tubs to sleek granite-topped counters. While emphasizing luxury and offering a glimpse of "fantasy" or "dream" bathrooms, House Beautiful Bathrooms also offers plenty of practical, realistic solutions, demonstrating how to achieve balance between luxury and utility. It depicts many different types of bathrooms, including master baths, spas, whirlpools, hot tubs, and outdoor showers. It features clever and ingenious solutions for making the most of limited space and/or highlighting a particular fixture -- a wall sconce with a harlequin lampshade, a mobile suspended over the tub, colorful mosaics, different combinations of tiles and wallpapers, seating and storage options -- to transform even the most ordinary bathroom into a designer showcase.House Beautiful Bathrooms indulges super-luxury fantasies such as an octagonal bath surrounded by rich paneled eaves in matching wood; a towering, skylit shower with inset windows; French doors opening directly onto a terrace from a large bath/sitting room; and a fabulous copper bathtub. It also presents decorating and design extras such as art display, chairs for a sitting area, television and/or radio placement, and adjoining dressing rooms, and offers valuable information on state-of-the-art fixtures, luxurioustowels, and gorgeous tile. Here is a book to indulge in and enjoy.
This was such a happy find. You do not read this book to like the bathrooms you read this book to see them rendered through the eyes and exceptionally elegant and informed words of Sally Clark. What the hell? I haven’t read copy like this in so long if ever. She’s so informed and gifted in description. It’s like giving a great writer all the knowledge and demand to explain one thing throughly and perfectly. I learned so much. Cast iron over steel for tubs, more durable and holds heat better. Knock on the side! If hollow sounding, steel, if thud, cast iron. Her vocabulary for design and furnishings and materials blew me away. We are losing these recipes. This is exactly the kind of writing AI could never replicate because it requires judgement. She’s so clear and informed. It makes whatever she’s describing be seen through a lens of impressive depth. You can’t help but appreciate things described in this way. What a fantastic book. Where is she? What else has she done? Sally! Where are you? A woman who murdered her children has this same name and it makes her difficult to google. I miss when book publishing was about finding the best people and making them more known. Incredible, top to bottom. Should be revered and spoken about in hushed tones in the right rooms. Fantastic
