He had me in the introduction when he question our fascination with violent murders and tendency to make heroes out of them. Truth! Granted this is a novelization but it told a story both believable and interesting. Not many of the characters are heroic, but most are understandable. A man who killed as much as Billy needed to be stopped.
With so many stories about Billy the Kid out there, but so little information about Pat Garrett, it really is hard to say exactly what the truth is. This did make for a pretty decent story.
