The plot of the popular daytime soap opera "Riverday" was melodramatic to be sure, but, as detective Hilary Quayle and her sometime lover Gene discover, it's not nearly, as tangled - or as deadly - as the drama its stars are acting out in real life.

Excellent murder mystery. Gene is the lead character with Hilary Quayle playing a secondary role. Main problem with this book is that it left so many situations unresolved.
I found this book in my neighbor's trash--or next to it is more like it. I hate to see books thrown away so I rescued it. Soaps and murder are two of my favorite subjects so it looked interesting anyway.
Hardly a great mystery, but passable. Since it was written 30 years ago, it's dated in some respects, but I did enjoy reading about how the studio and sound stage is set up. It fell right in line with how things looked when Guiding Light taped at the CBS studio when Harley was hiding in it. I had the book figured out very early on, but not exactly how it would all play out. The end was convoluted and jammed up.
