This is an informative picture book about the contienent of Australia. It features a lot of information about Australia including: landscape, weather, day-to day living, food, school, religion and festivals, and other fun facts. The book talks about the colonization and demongraphics of the place. This features a lot of pictures of people living in Australia and what they eat, how long they go to school and work, what the inside of their home looks like. It tries to be as descriptive as possible.
My Thoughts:
This wasn't my favorite book even though it had fun pictures, the information was just a little bit dry. It is an older book, so some of the pictures are not the best quality and are a bit outdated. For someone looking to know more about the continent of Australia though, it would be great for them.
Classroom Usage:
I would use this during a unit about Continents. Each student would chose the one they wanted to learn about and then break up into groups accordingly to study and research more on the place. From there, they would do a group presentation to share with the rest of the class what they learned.
