College doesn't always prepare you for the hands-on world of work. But an apprenticeship sure will.
For two years, I was a traditional wooden boatbuilding apprentice. It wasn't easy. I arrived at the Shop knowing how to type and how to cobble together a half-decent magazine article, but I didn't know much about using woodworking tools, let alone how to maintain them. But I learned. And as a result, I started a new career. This is how it happened.....
