Not an accurate description of Jesus! He was sinless but this book quotes Jesus saying “I’ve come to…wash my sins away”. THAT IS NOT CORRECT! Be careful what your children read. This does not follow the Bible.
Inaccurately shows how baptism happens (shows John sprinkling) even while mentioning that he is putting them under the water, and it also has confusing wording about the purpose of baptism ("come to the river today, and I'll wash your sins away"). My son wanted me to read this, but we had to have a compare/contrast discussion about what we believe vs. what this book shows.
This book states that Jesus was baptized to wash his sins away. It’s complete heresy and I don’t use that term lightly. Christians, do NOT buy this book.
Jesus was sinless and didn't get baptized to have his sins washed away. This isn't true and not Biblical. For this reason I am leaving a bad review so other parents know to stay away from this book.
This is NOT an accurate amount of Jesus. Jesus was the perfect, sinless, sacrificial lamb of God. He does not come to be baptized to wash his sins away for He had no sin nor does baptism wash anyone’s sins away. Be sure you are teaching your children the truth that is in the Bible.
Apparently Ms Sully decided to change the story to her liking. Did she read the Bible story of Jesus’ baptism? I’m not saying this from a certain denominational view, I’m talking about her adding words that are not in scripture. Words that undermine who Jesus is from every denominational point of view, Catholic or Protestant. Jesus never said he went to be baptized to wash away his sins as this book falsely teaches.

I would give this book zero stars if it were possible. This book is 100% inaccurate! Jesus did not sin. Thus it is wrong when it says Jesus was baptized to wash away his sins. I’m glad I did not buy this book and only got it from the library.
Damaging lies and straight up blasphemy. I don't know if Kathryn Sully wrote this intentionally to misguide children, or if she is just a lazy, know-nothing writer, who did 0% research on the matter, but either way, she is absolutely incorrect. She might as well write 'How the motorized car engine works' and talk about it running on magic and peanut butter. There would be more truth in that book, than in the Baptism of Jesus book.
I'm very disappointed to read that this book claims that Jesus was washing His sins away during baptism. THAT'S COMPLETELY FALSE!!!! I believe she may mean well, but that is a dangerous LIE!!!!!! God is perfect! Jesus i s God! Jesus was trying to show us an example of Baptism and affirm the ministry of John the Baptist. I'll be writing the author with these complaints, as well.
I hope it's a mistake and not an intentional falsehood that this author claims Jesus needed to be baptized to wash His sins away.
Jesus came to forgive sins. He lived a perfect, sin-free life and died as the perfect sacrifice for our sins. Jesus was baptized as an act of obedience to the Father.
Leading children away from the truth is dangerous, and it would be better to have a millstone.
The artwork is SO lovely, but the author has clearly never read the Bible. The page where Jesus says He's come to the river to wash His sins away is absolutely heretical. Don't buy this book for any child.
Reader beware. This is not based on scripture. The author quotes Jesus as saying, “I have come to the river today, to wash my sins away.” Sure, it rhymes but is false.
