I thoroughly enjoyed this biography of Pissarro because it also details the whole Impressionistic movement and the hardships all the artists endured for their craft. It was a fascinating read.

This is primarily a biography, with some information about Pissaro's ideas about art and his technique. The author seems content to let Pissaro speak for himself (through family letters, for example) rather than offering interpretations of Pissaro's work.
