Am currently reading an oldie, but goodie, Ageless Body, Timeless Mind. Have read Deepak's other book, Quantum Healing. It makes the argument that aging is really a state of consciousness rather than a set pattern. Since physics shows us that time is an illusion, the only thing that really makes us age is our belief in it. In other words, we collapse the quantum wave to make the body appear to age.
He states that 98 percent of our bodies' atoms are exchanged each year, and aging processes only account for one percent per year. Why, then, do we age, when the actual cells are constantly being changed? Because what we witness with our eyes attests to aging, even though there is a sub-atomic world that we may be able to control with our minds. What if the cultural consciousness were changed to one of vital longevity? This has actually occurred recently, as now many people expect to live vibrant, active lives into their 70's. Perhaps our consciousness will extend that to our 80's, and then our 90's, etc. It's similar to Roger Bannister breaking the four-minute mile.
How we create our own reality by focusing our attention on certain aspects is a subject that fascinates me. I have seen it countless times in my psychotherapy practice: what a person believes is true for him.
Mediocre book that I skim/read through in one quick evening. Good info on the mind/body connection and importance of not only good eating, exercise, and mental exercise.....but also on how our interpretations of life/events influences our stress level and changes hormones and all body chemicals.
