Fist of all, I received a free copy of this book through Goodreads First Giveaways.
This book is a guide about a wonderful area in England called The Cotswold. The book includes a description of the area and its many towns and villages that a visitor should definitely visit, while in England, as well as its many monuments dating back thousands of years. It also has beautiful drawings of various buildings and monuments that are really expressive and help the reader obtain a better idea of the place that s/he is reading about.I hope one day i will visit these amazing places myself so as to witness their beauty!
I am a bit of an anglophile and have had an interest in this particular area of England for quite some time; that is why I entered to win this book. It was easy and interesting to read; with lots of great illustrations that were quite evocative and photo-realistic. It really gave the feeling of the beauty of that part of England. It made me feel like I was actually there, spending time in these places!
The Illustrated Cotswold Guide is a quite sweet presentation of the Cotswolds. It it a little weird reading a guide about a place I have never been, which is why it gets only 3 stars because for me the enjoyment value was (as I believe it would be for any guidebook) is lower than a normal fictional book. However looking at illustrations of these old buildings it did make me want to go there.
Discover the Charming and sometimes odd side of the Cotswolds is what this book is about and my Father Peter Reardon shows this in both word and pen and ink drawing
