Quick read; very helpful. I am dealing with this issue with one of my children right now and this book gave me a lot of perspective and left me feeling quite hopeful for the future. Worth reading!

Helpful

I read this with my daughter, and it was very calming and soothing for both of us. We're still at the beginning of our journey, but I feel like reading this has likely helped me avoid common mistakes that could lead to severe damage of our relationship.

This book was a little light on actual strategies, but did provide me with some perspective about my 10-year-old son's trich. I will now approach this problem with a more open mind and a more accepting heart. I want there to be a straightforward fix for his hair-pulling, and if I follow x, y, and z steps, the behavior will stop. That's not the reality. He is the one in control. I can bring him to therapy and pay for the sessions. I can provide him with a selection of fidget toys. I can keep a close eye on him and signal him when I find him pulling. But at the end of the day, he has to be the one with the motivation to change. I knew that before I read this book, but this book helped me accept that concept. Maybe he will find that internal motivation one day. Til then, it's not really the worst thing in the world to go through life with no eyelashes, variable eyebrows, and a premature bald spot.

Currently dealing with this with one of our little guys. If any of my friends have any experience with this, I'd love to hear from you!

I was hesitant to pay $9.99 for a book that was only 81 pages, but at the same time I'm glad it wasn't a long read. Some nice concise explanations and expectations were given. Would have loved to see some more strategy suggestions, but of course you are encouraged to see a therapist for that. My biggest take-away is to keep the hair pulling in perspective and realize that it can be dealt with and is not the end of the world!
